The U.S. Army Reserve 417th Engineering Company will have a large military flatbed trailer in the parade for current and veteran service people to ride on. Bravo Company from Reserve Center in Orangeburg, New York and the U.S. Army Recruiting Center in Ramsey will be hosting the float, led by The U.S. Army Reserve Band from Fort Totten, New York. Service personnel from all branches are invited. Participants should arrive at Dater School prior to the 7:15 p.m. step off. Home for the Holidays will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Main Street will be closed to vehicles and used only for walking before and after the parade. PBA holds fundraiser Tickets for the annual Ramsey Policemen’s Benevolent Association fundraiser are on sale now. Last year’s winner was a lifelong Ramsey resident who received $10,000. The 2009 winner will be announced at the Home for the Holidays Celebration on Dec. 5. The $20 tickets sell out quickly. Tickets are available from Ramsey PBA members. Hockey Association hosts Devils fundraiser The Ramsey Hockey Association has a limited number of tickets to the New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators game at Prudential Center on Friday Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. for sale. On the program will be a special appearance of the Ramsey Mites on Ice between the first and second periods. Tickets are $39 (regular price is $56.) Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the association. Seniors set holiday events The Ramsey Seniors have planned two holiday events for December. The seniors will travel to the New York Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, Dec. 1 for the Victorian Christmas Spectacular, which includes the miniature train display. The cost is $45 per person. Lunch on Arthur Avenue is not included. There will be a considerable amount of walking involved. The annual Christmas party will be held at the Ramsey Country Club on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at noon. Price is $25 per person and includes appetizer, salad, filet mignon, hazelnut salmon, or chicken francaise, and dessert. Entertainment will be provided by Ron Dellapina. Both of these events are for Ramsey Seniors only. Sign up will begin at the borough hall on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. Checks to should be made payable to Ramsey Seniors; proof of Ramsey residency is required. The senior center is located in Finch Park. Any Ramsey resident over the age of 60 is invited to attend. Apply for Sweetheart Casino Night funds The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey is now making plans for its Sweetheart Casino Night, which has raised more than $75,000 for Ramsey organizations over the past four years. The next JWCRSweetheart Casino Night will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010. The club is now accepting applications from not-for-profit organizations that wish to be considered for funding.
