November 11, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 19 Ramsey Review Thanksgiving food donations sought Ramsey Responds will be collecting Thanksgiving food donations at the Senior Citizens Center in Finch Park on Friday, Nov. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. Families may also send donations to school with their children the week of Nov. 16 through 20. Baskets will be delivered to Ramsey families the evening of Nov. 20. Items needed are canned fruits and vegetables, gravy, yams, rice, instant potatoes, rolls, soup, canned juices, stuffing, coffee and tea, cranberry sauce, frozen turkeys, salad dressing, pie crust, pie filling, and Shop-Rite gift cards. Any resident needing assistance may call Ramsey Responds at (201) 312-4843. Ramsey Responds is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping neighbors in need. Home for the Holidays activities will begin at 6 p.m. when Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic and designated as a Walking Mall, with shops open to visitors, music, entertainment and visits with Santa. The evening’s events will include a parade, which steps off at 7:15 p.m. New this year will be a stage at the center island for additional entertainment. ‘Best of Open Mic’ to be presented Ramsey Fine Arts Council will present “Best of Open Mic” on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 8:30 p.m. at Brady’s at the Station. Hosted by Zeke Carey and Friends, the event will feature performers from previous Open Mic events and will conclude the 2009 season. Holiday ‘Hollyberry’ Fair set The annual Holiday “Hollyberry” Fair at Saint John’s Memorial Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Main Street and Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 from 7 to 9, and Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will include wine and hors d’oeuvres with the $7 admission fee on Friday night. On Saturday the event is free. Attendees will be treated to an old-fashioned Christmas with handcrafted items (no vendors), a gourmet food shop, a bakers’ table featuring homemade apple pies and an assortment of gourmet treats, specialty gift baskets, a Talents & Treasures fundraiser, upscale Attic Treasures, and a book nook with CDs, DVDs, and videos.
