Alan Johnstone of Woodcliff Lake, formerly of Upper Saddle River, died Oct. 22. He was 95. He was a Realtor. With his mother, he started a summer stock theater in borough hall in 1930-1940. He lived most of his life in the Terhune-Johnstone family home in Upper Saddle River. He was predeceased by his parents and brother. Before retiring in 1988, he was vice president of sales for Meer Corporation of North Bergen. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony R.C. Church in Hawthorne, and a former parishioner of Saint John Neumann R.C. Church, Lord’s Valley, Pennsylvania. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Ho-Ho-Kus, the VFW Post 4365, Palisades Park and the Hemlock Farms Community Association. He is survived by his children John Markham of Nellysford, Virgina, Daniel Markham of Lord’s Valley, Pennsylvania and Maureen O’Connor of Midland Park, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Catherine Rita Masterson, nee Donohue, of Neptune, formerly of Ridgewood and Saddle River, died Oct. 26. She was 95. At age 14, she was a telephone operator at AT&T, eventually becoming the head operator in Ridgewood. Before retiring, she was employed at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, and the Catholic Daughters, Court 1712. She is survived by her daughters, Maryellen Warwick, Kathleen Warwick, Joan Ianacone, Ann Colantuano, Eileen Masterson, and Margaret Master- Carol K. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was the owner of Nick Meyers Trucking in Franklin Lakes and a partner with his sons in Iron Horse Construction in Oakland. He was a member of Franklin Lakes Methodist Church, the VFW and Lions Club of Franklin Lakes. He is survived by his children Donald J. Meyers, and Ronald A. Meyers, both of Franklin Lakes, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Jane E. Meyers (nee Christopher), and his son Nicholas G. He was a life member of the Rheinischer Songerbund, a member of the American Legion Post 1000 of Trenton, The Air Force Association, the Activities Club of Glen Rock, and a former member of the Hobbyist Club in Ridgewood. Calvin started the Christian Reformed Church four hundred fifty years ago. Pastor Michael Carrier adapted John Calvin’s “Order of Worship” and “Forms of Church Prayers” into the worship service.
