The ceremony will be at 7 p.m. at 48 Mechanic Street, Ramsey. This year’s recipients are: EMT Colleen Gubala, Ramsey Ambulance Corps; firefighters Gary Paul and Douglas Harvey, Ramsey Fire Department; Senior Planner, George Halpin, Ramsey Office of Emergency Management; DARE Officer Timothy Shoemaker, Ramsey Police Department; and Squadwoman Kelly Blayer, Ramsey Rescue Squad. Grand Knight Joseph Reap stated, “It is an honor to again be able to recognize our public safety personnel who do an excellent job safeguarding the residents of Ramsey. They perform a dangerous and demanding task, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” Shield Awards Co-Chairmen Michael Adams and Michael Burns added, “We invite all members of the community, not just the families and colleagues of the honored recipients, to join us for the ceremony. We anticipate that several dignitaries, including our own mayor and council, will be making presentations that evening.” The Knights of Columbus Shield Awards were initiated in May 1977 to honor an outstanding member of the Ramsey Fire Department and Police Department. Over the years, honorees from the Ramsey Ambulance Corps, OEM, and Rescue Squad have been included.
