Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • March 18, 2009 Two men from Bronx, New York, ages 43 and 52, were arrested Feb. 26 at Leathbridge Plaza for theft, forgery, and impersonating another after officers were called to investigate the men while attempting to withdraw money from a bank. The men used the name and identification of another man in an attempt to withdraw the money and were occupied until the police arrived. After investigation, the men were arrested and later transported to the Bergen County Jail to await arraignment. On Feb. 27, a 33-year-old Long Island City, New York man and a 33-year-old Astoria, New York man were arrested on Route 17 South for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after the officer stopped them for littering. The officer interviewed the driver and was told that there was marijuana inside the vehicle. A search resulted in the marijuana and the paraphernalia. The men were arrested and subsequently released with a future court appearance date in Mahwah. Also on Feb. 27, a 46-year-old Del Mar, California woman was arrested on Ramapo Valley Road for driving while intoxicated after the officer stopped her for driving on the shoulder. The officer interviewed the woman and determined that she had been drinking. After conducting Township of Mahwah Police Department Report field tests he arrested her for DWI. She was later released to a friend with a pending court appearance required in Mahwah. On Feb. 28, a 21-year-old Cedar Grove man was arrested on Ramapo Valley Road for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after the officer stopped the man for an obscured license plate. The officer interviewed the man and smelled burned marijuana inside the vehicle. After a search, the marijuana and paraphernalia were located and the man was arrested. He was released with a future court appearance date in Mahwah Municipal Court. A 26-year-old Upper Saddle River woman was arrested on Masonicus Road the same day. She was charged with DWI after the officer stopped her for swerving. The officer interviewed the woman and had her conduct field tests. She was arrested for DWI and subsequently released with a pending court appearance required in Mahwah. On March 1, a 32-year-old Narragansett, Rhode Island woman was arrested on Cambridge Court for assault after officers were called to investigate a dispute. The officers found the male victim and observed injuries that resulted in the woman’s arrest. She was charged and later transported to the hospital for observation. She will have to appear in Mahwah Municipal Court at a later date. Also on March 1, a 21-year-old Hawthorne man was arrested on Ramapo Valley Road for possession of marijuana after the officer stopped him for driving with a damaged tail light. The officer interviewed the man and smelled burned marijuana inside the car. The marijuana was located after a search of the vehicle. The man was arrested and later released with a court appearance date in Mahwah. On March 4, a 36-year-old Mahwah man was arrested on Hawthorne Lane for assault after the officer was called to investigate a dispute. The officers interviewed the female victim and observed marks on her arms that resulted in the man’s arrest. He was charged and later released with a future court appearance required in Mahwah. The same day, an 18-year-old Middletown, Connecticut man was arrested on Route 287 South for possession of marijuana after the officer stopped the man for speeding. The officer interviewed the man and determined that he had marijuana inside the vehicle. After locating the drugs the man was arrested.
