Beginning March 27, spend four Friday evenings learning the art of water color painting with Rina Goldhagen. This professional artist and instructor will offer a series lessons for beginners that will be held between 7 and 9 p.m. The first lesson will be spent getting familiar with the medium and learning basic methods for creating a variety of effects. The next three lessons will focus on short projects that will enable participants to apply those methods. A gallery show of the works created will follow the classes. Digital photo classes will also be offered in the coming months. Stop by and ask for details. The gallery is currently featuring several exhibits, including photographs by Jack Surran and aerial photographs by Andre Aragon. Aragon’s works include images of both the old and the brand new Yankee Stadium. Jody Whitsell is also exhibiting her pop art paintings of dogs. Ramsey Review Seniors plan events Sign up has begun at the borough hall for the Spring Festival luncheon to be held at the Finch Park senior center on Friday, March 27 at noon. The price is $7 per person and is payable by check to the Ramsey Seniors. Valley Hospital’s Prime Time will present a lecture by Susan Breithaupt on Monday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at the center. “Improve Your Memory” will be the topic. This discussion will include for keeping memory intact and ways to challenge the brain. Learn the causes of memory loss. The new eight-week yoga class with Pat will begin Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m. Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothes. This class is free to all Ramsey seniors over the age of 60. Louise Casey’s Monday line dancers have been practicing for their upcoming performance at the Leisure Club on Tuesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. The Sunday movies with Bea and Marge continue to be a huge success. “The Secret Life of Bees” will be the movie this Sunday at 1 p.m. Local businesses donate the movies and refreshments. As spring arrives, the walking group expects more seniors to come out of hibernation. Meet in the Drug Fair parking lot at 8 a.m. each morning with Filly, Bea, Margaret and all the early risers will be on hand to lead the group through town via the bicycle path. The new pool table and game table have arrived and the shuffleboard group is expanding. Hoagie sale begins Members of the Ramsey High School Big Blue Marching Band and Color Guard will be ringing doorbells Wednesday, March 4 through Sunday, March 15, for the annual Hoagie Sale. Hoagies will be delivered on Saturday, March 21. Proceeds from the sale help the band and guard travel to various competitions where they promote Ramsey as one of the finest high school bands in the tri-state area. The group needs the community’s help and support. Donations are always welcome. Garden Club hosts speaker The Ramsey Area Garden Club will meet on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:45 p.m. Michael Ruggiero, horticulturist and all-around plant and garden expert at Matterhorn Nursery in Spring Valley, New York, will speak on new and interesting annuals with a tropical touch. Ruggiero spent 40 years a senior curator in the horticultural department at the New York Botanical Gardens. He continues to serve as an instructor for the School of Horticulture at the Botanical Gardens. The public is invited to attend the portion of the meeting that features the guest speaker.
