It is the story of Sara Smolinsky’s struggle toward independence and self-fulfillment through education, work, and love. It is universal and resonates with a passionate intensity that modern readers can share. Both the morning and evening adult book discussion groups are looking for new members. (continued from page 5) make the signage more easily visible to motorists on Route 17. The board also found that the placement of the hotel on this site is unique because, although the hotel is located on Route 17, the access to the hotel is from Corporate Drive and the front lobby of the hotel is not located on either of these roadways but, rather, is oriented to the north. Therefore, the board found that signs conforming to the township’s ordinance would not be sufficient to identify the hotel and that larger sign areas, as proposed by the applicant, are required on the north and south sides of the building to allow the site, and the primary access to the site, to be more easily identified by motorists traveling on Route 17. “The board is satisfied that, due to the location of the site along Route 17 and Corporate Drive, and the fact that it is surrounded by other similar commercial uses, granting the variances will have a minimal adverse aesthetic impact on the surrounding area,” the board’s resolution states. “The board therefore finds that the benefits of granting the variances, enhanced safety on and around the site, will far outweigh any detriment to the public good.” As a condition of the approval, the applicant, OTO Development, LLC, must install an additional sign at the Corporate Drive entrance to the hotel to direct vehicles to the lobby. That sign must be approved by the township engineer. In September of 2008, the planning board granted subdivision approval to OTO Development to permit the subdivision of the Robbie’s Music Barn property into two lots. Robbie’s will remain on the northern lot and the new hotel will be constructed on the southern lot.
