She is survived by her son Christian Auleta, her mother Rosa Auleta (nee Ferreira), and her siblings Daniel, Sandra, and Christine Auleta. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He worked as an electrical engineer for Bendix Corp in Teterboro, then as a program manager for ITT Defense Communication in Nutley. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel RC Church in Ridgewood. He was a coach for the Ridgewood Baseball Association. He is survived by his wife M. Gloria (nee Phillipp), his children Nancy Hogan of Medford, Massachusetts, Ellen Cormack of Roswell, Georgia, William Hogan, Jr. of Summit, and Paul Hogan of Ridgewood, seven grandchildren, and his brother John Hogan of Chicago, Illinois. Anita Jessourian of Franklin Lakes died July 20. She was 79. She was a member of Saint Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn. She was involved with the Catholic Church. She is survived by her children Kathy and Robert, two grandchildren, and her brother Edward. He is survived by his sisters, Jessie MacInnis of Brooklyn, New York and Jean McGolrick of McLean, Virginia, nine nieces and nephews, and 14 grand nieces and nephews. Hogan Carl Olb Louis Andrew Sisler Sr. of Glen Rock, formerly of Hawthorne and Brielle, died July 19. He was 92. He served as a propulsion engineer with Wright Aeronautical in New Jersey during World War II. He had successful careers in heavy equipment consulting and as a restaurateur. He was a member of the Marathon Yacht Club and the Wing and Shot Hunt Club. He is survived by his children Ruth Sisler Morine of Great Falls, Virginia, Drew Sisler and Helen S. Dale Sullivan of Wyckoff died on July 19. She was 85. Louis Andrew Sisler Sr. Dale Sullivan Religious Notes Anita Jessourian Danea Koch John A. MacInnis Temple Israel and JCC in Ridgewood has announced the appointment of Rabbi David J. Fine as its spiritual leader. Rabbi Fine succeeds Rabbi David B. Saltzman, who served as Temple Israel’s spiritual leader as the synagogue conducted its search for a permanent rabbi. Rabbi Fine had previously served at Shaarei Tikvah, a Conservative congregation in Scarsdale, New York, as interim Jewish Chaplain at Wesleyan University, and as assistant to the executive vice president and secretary to the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards at the Rabbinical Assembly, the international association of Conservative rabbis. At Shaarei Tikvah, Rabbi Fine oversaw a successful capital campaign and the construction of a synagogue from the ground up. He established a vibrant adult education program, led trips to Israel and Europe, and expanded the Hebrew high school and youth programs of the synagogue. At the Rabbinical Assembly, Rabbi Fine administered the work of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards and the National Council of Synagogues, coordinating interfaith dialogue between the Conservative and Reform movements in Judaism with the American Catholic church. He worked on a number of Rabbinical Assembly publications and continues to serve as Editor Fine named leader at Temple Israel of the Responsa of the Law Committee, with two new volumes currently in production. (“Responsa” comprise a body of written decisions and legal rulings given by rabbis in response to questions addressed to them.) Rabbi Fine oversaw the posting of the Responsa of the Law Committee on the Rabbinical Assembly’s website, and remains responsible for the content of the Law Committee’s Web page, a service that is used by rabbis and students of Jewish law around the world. Rabbi Fine is completing a Ph.D. in modern European history at the graduate center, City University of New York, where his dissertation is on the experience of Jewish soldiers in the German army in the First World War. Rabbi Fine, his wife Alla, and their sons Laurence and Ariel officially become part of the family of Temple Israel and the wider Ridgewood community on July 15. Located at 475 Grove Street in Ridgewood, Temple Israel and JCC is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue with members from over a dozen Bergen County communities.
