In an effort to help the community Hawthorne Fortitude Masonic Lodge, located at 24 North Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey, is sponsoring a Blood Drive on July 21 from 3 to 8 p.m. All donors will receive in the mail a $25 book store gift card. Walk-ins are always welcome. To make an appoint- ment to donate, or have medical eligibility questions answered, call 1-800-933-BLOOD (2566). Qualified donors should be 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds, and be in generally good health. Donors must present photo or signed ID and know their Social Security number. Donors over 75 years of age can also keep donating with their physician’s note. RHS Band hosts fundraiser The Ramsey High School Marching Band and Guard Parent’s Association is selling tickets for its fundraiser. All proceeds will support the band’s activities throughout the school year. The marching band will be performing at the London New Year’s Day Parade, and the New Year’s Eve parade in Chantilly, France. The Parent’s Association is selling tickets for $20 each. First prize is forty percent of gross receipts up to $40,000, second prize six and a half percent up to $6,500, and third prize three and a half percent up to $3,500. The winners will be announced at the Marching Band Home Show held at Ramsey High School on Oct. 17. Tickets are available from any band parent or by contacting Eileen Gauthier at (201) 825-3083. They will also be available for sale at the following Ramsey businesses: Subway, Ramsey Corner Cafe, and Rainbow Cafe. ‘Consuming Kids’ to show at library The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey and the Ramsey Public Library are joining forces to provide a screening of “Consuming Kids,” a new, critically acclaimed film that focuses on the practices of corporate marketers that target children for sales of everything from junk food to violent video games. The Media Education Foundation produces and distributes documentary films and other educational resources to inspire critical reflection on the social, political, and cultural impact of American mass media. The event will take place on July 29 at the Ramsey Public Library, located at 30 Wyckoff Avenue. The film will start at 6:45 p.m. followed by a discussion with a guest speaker. This event is free and open to the public. Vacation Bible School set Grace Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School, Nic @ Night and Other Followers of the Faith, from Aug. 3 through 7 from 7:00-9:00 pm. All children grades kindergarten through grade six are invited to attend Grace Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School, “Nic @ Night and Other Followers of the Faith,” from Aug. 3 through 7.
