Royle recently has announced the 2009 winners of the annual John Royle Rotary Awards. These college scholarships are awarded annually to local students. This year’s winners include Christopher Devine of Ramsey, Stephanie Wylde of Ramsey, Nicholas Homler of Mahwah, Kayla Codina of Mahwah, Colin Gold of Mahwah, Erin Tobin of Allendale, James Surless of Ramsey, and Laura Ahn of Mahwah. The Bergen Highlands-Ramsey Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International and sponsors activities that benefit the local community and international public service projects. In addition to scholarships, the club provides extensive support locally for the Center for Food Action and Habitat for Humanity. Members also run the children’s rides at Ramsey Day, Upper Saddle River Day and Mahwah Day, with all proceeds going toward the club’s charitable activities. Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce is seeking golfers for its 18th Annual Golf Outing to be held on Monday, Sept. 21 at the Tuxedo Club, 126 South Gate Road, Tuxedo Park, New York. This high-profile event promises an excellent afternoon of golfing and is open to the public, including Chamber members, non-members, and their guests. This year, the Chamber will honor local business leader Joseph T. Dockery, president of the Prestige Family of Fine Cars. Dockery will be recognized for his business accomplishments and his contributions to the community. A portion of the profits from this event will be donated to The John Theurer Cancer Center of the Hackensack University Medical Center. The center’s mission is to deliver extraordinary cancer care in a compassionate setting guided by renowned doctors, nurses and support staff. Golf Outing participants will have a great opportunity to play golf at The Tuxedo Club’s historic private course, which is usually reserved for club members. Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., with putting and pitching contests to follow. A free swing analysis will be offered by GolfTEC of Paramus. Lunch will be served on the Golf House Terrace at 11 a.m. “Shot Gun” Tee-off will be at 12:15 p.m. A cocktail reception and dinner buffet follow from 5 to 8 p.m. at the clubhouse. The cost for the entire package is $300 per person. Singles, doubles, and foursomes are welcome. Cocktail reception and dinner only tickets are also available at $125 per person. For businesses, this event is an excellent way to reach out to representatives of other regional companies. Advertising sponsorships are available for area businesses, ranging from $125 to $3,000.
