Ramsey July 15, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • Page 11 Carol Amos Grillo recently received an honorary doctor of humane letters from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. She was one of three distinguished members of the Endicott community who were recognized as part of the celebration of the college’s seventieth anniversary, reunion, and dedication of the new Center for the Arts. Grillo earned her degree in art at Endicott College and has been a practicing artist ever since, first as an illustrator for an advertising firm in Syracuse and later as an award-winning artist. Using hand-colored papers, inks, acrylics, and a variety of textural materials in the collage technique, she has created pieces that have won recognition from such organizations as the Vero Beach Art Club, Ringwood Art Association, The White Gallery, and the Lighthouse Center for the Arts. She has exhibited in many galleries across the United States including the Riverside Center for the Arts in Florida, the Borough woman receives honorary doctorate Kerygma Gallery in New Jersey, and the Cork Gallery in New York City’s Lincoln Center. She is an elected member of the National Association of Women Artists, one of the oldest art associations in the nation. In addition, she is a member of the National Collage Society, Vero Beach Art Club, North County Art Association, and the Artist’s Guild of Northwood University. During the dedication ceremony, the Carol Grillo Student Art Gallery at the new Center for the Arts was dedicated by Carol Grillo and her husband Bob. He is chairman of General Office Environments, a family-owned and operated office furniture dealership. Grillo received her associate’s degree from Endicott College and a bachelor’s degree from Framingham State Teachers College. She and her husband reside in Jupiter, Florida and Ramsey. The honoree has two sons, Marc and Scott, one daughter, Carin, and eight grandchildren.
