The Ramsey Office of Emergency Management meets the second Wednesday of the month at borough hall, in the emergency operations center, which is located in the lower level of the Ramsey Municipal Building. The State of New Jersey requires that every municipality appoint a Local Emergency Planning Committee, to consist of at least 12 individuals and to be comprised of five categories. Those five groupings are: elected officials, public safety, public health and public works officials, broadcast and print media officials, community groups, such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army, and representatives of public utilities. The LEPC is appointed by a resolution of the mayor and council, at the borough’s annual reorganization meeting.
