The Ramsey Police Department’s five newest officers are now in the midst of their field training, Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney reported last week. Michael Parise, Jacqueline Morris, Jeffrey Guilfoyle, Casey Hines, and Adam Macaluso have finished their courses at the academy, and are currently being trained by other officers from the borough’s police department. Macaluso is an Iraq War veteran and a captain in the U.S. Marines. He holds a bachelor’s degree and previously served as an agent in the U.S. State Department. Hines is a graduate of Seton Hall University, where he was a member of the baseball team. Guilfoyle recently won the Ironman physical fitness award from the police

Chief Gurney said the new officers represent the best of the field of candidates who were available for the five positions that opened when five officers retired from the department last year. The 2008 retirees included Patrolman Matthew Mistretta, Sergeant Francis Alcaro, Sergeant Kevin Kelly, Lietuenant mark Delhauer, and Lieutenant Robert Rapp. Mistretta, Alcaro, and Kelly had each served the department for 25 years. Delhauer was a 30-year veteran of the department, and Rapp logged 29 years.
