The new directors were elected to three-year terms by a vote of the membership in December. Installed as new directors were Kara Brennan of the Ramapo College of New Jersey Foundation, Mahwah; Angela Clarkin of the Mahwah Schools Foundation; Terrie O’Connor of Terrie O’Connor Realtors, Allendale; and Lovina Schoenmakers of LES Associates, Mahwah. At the same meeting, Dr. Annette S. Freund of Freund Associates Technical Communication in Mahwah, was elected president, and Susan Lord of Hughes Environmental Engineering, Inc. in Montvale was elected to the senior vice president position. Daniel J. Hope of Stryker Orthopaedics was elected to a fifth term as treasurer. Vice presidents were also elected to head major Chamber departments. They include John G. Saint Patrick’s Day celebration set The Grand Celebration of Saint Patrick will be held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception’s parish gym, 900 Darlington Avenue in Mahwah, on March 7. The West Milford Pipe Band will be the opening act. This “Ramapo Highland Celtic Sound” will pipe off at 7 p.m. sharp. Terry Feeley and his Band will provide traditional Irish tunes along with a vast assortment of pop and rock classics. Vocalist Jennifer Edwards will make a special guest appearance. Champion dancers from the Early- McLoughlin School of Irish Dance will perform the most cherished step numbers of the Emerald Isle. An Irish Buffet by The Market Basket will be served. Kindergarten registration to begin Kindergarten registration in the Mahwah Township Schools will begin for children who will be five years old on or before Oct. 1, 2009. Registration dates for the 2009-2010 school year will be: March 5, 6, and 13 at George Washington School, 19 Fardale Avenue, (201) 882-2241; March 10, 19, and 24 at Betsy Ross School, 20 Malcolm Avenue, (201) 882-2251; and March 10, 12, and 17 at Lenape Meadows School, 160 Ridge Road, (201) 882-2261. To enroll a child following documents must be presented: the child’s birth certificate, record of required immunizations, and four proofs of residency, at least one of these must be a property tax bill, deed(s), a fully executed rental lease, or other evidence of property ownership. Other acceptable documents include a current utility bill, financial account information, or court order. Foundation to host Black and White Starry Night The Mahwah Schools Foundation will hold its annual Trustee Dinner on Tuesday, March 10 at Seasons in Washington Township. This “Black and White Starry Night” fundraiser is expected to sell out. All proceeds will benefit Mahwah’s six public schools, providing innovative programming and equipment that currently is not available through the school budget. The event will be held from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. and will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, music by the band Presence, featuring Bill Jordan, dancing, basket prizes, and a special auction. Prize items will include NBC tour tickets, with a signed photograph of Matt Lauer, tickets for Broadway shows, jewelry, and gift certificates to restaurants in the New York metropolitan area. In light of current economic conditions, the Mahwah Schools Foundation is offering ticket prices below previous years’ ticket prices for this event. The cost to attend is $100 per person. Event organizers encourage members of the community to make donations of merchandise, gift certificates, services, and tickets to sporting or entertainment events.
