Redeemer children present Christmas story Following years of tradition, the children and youth of the Sunday school of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey will present a Nativity Pageant on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 9 a.m. in the church. Children from toddlers to teens will reenact the Christmas story as they create a living Nativity scene in the church chancel. Older youth will read the prophecies and the story from the Gospels of Luke and Matthew. Younger children will present Christmas songs and invite the entire audience to join in singing carols. The pageant will be followed by a 10:15 a.m. Service of Holy Communion for the Fourth Sunday in Advent; there will be no 8 a.m. service that day. Christmas comes to Bergen Highlands Bergen Highlands United Methodist Church is celebrating the Christmas season with various services. The church’s three choirs will perform the annual Christmas Cantata at the 10:30 a.m. service on Dec. 20. This year’s cantata includes music from “Song of Christmas” by Robert J. and Betty C. Hughes, and “Morning Star” by Joseph M. Martin. The children’s, youth, and senior choirs, under the direction of Betsy Haley and accompanied by Becky Kester, will tell the story of the Christmas miracle. The Christmas Eve Candlelight Ser- vice will be held Dec. 24 at 7:30 p.m. This family service includes scripture, caroling, and music. The children who attend will participate in bringing the Christmas story to life. The children’s, youth, and senior choirs will perform Christmas favorites. The church will continue to celebrate Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 27 with a service of lessons and carols at the 10:30 a.m. service.
