Nativity scene tells the story Drive by the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey any day through Jan. 9 to see The Christmas Story told through life-size figures in the church’s well-loved Nativity Scene. For almost half a century, members of Redeemer have delighted the Ramsey community with the scene showing the birth of Christ with Mary, Joseph and the Child in the stable; the angel hovering over the Child; and the shepherds and magi and their animals coming in awe to
worship. Originally conceived as part of Vacation Bible School activities in the summer of 1960, each figure is fashioned out of a wooden frame covered by chicken wire and then papier-mâché. The figures and animals are clothed with fabric, and the scene is adorned with items that may have been brought as gifts for the Holy Family. The Nativity scene is open around the clock for people to see and walk through and is lighted at night. The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer is located at 55 Wyckoff Avenue in Ramsey at the junction with Woodland and Ackerman. For more information, call the Rev.
