Mary Teresa Ferro, nee Lupo, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Mahwah, died Dec. 2. She is survived by her children Patrick Ferro of Stuart, Florida, Marianne Ferro of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Bonnie Ferro of Burlington, Vermont, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Helen L. Hartman, nee Protiso, of Ramsey died Nov. 11. She was 90. She was a beautician in the Bergen County area for many years. She is survived by her children Jeffrey F. Hartman of Oakland and Jill E. Hartman of Upper Saddle River, and her sister Mary Dittamo and her recently deceased sister Carmelita Garofalini. She was predeceased by her husband Franklin Holt Hartman. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. La Cour of Ridgewood, formerly of Oradell died Dec. 2. She was 89. She is survived by her children Linda Kakos, Raymond La Cour, Paul La Cour, and Peter La Cour, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Elizabeth Jane Mohan, nee Belinsky, of Shohola, Pennsylvania, formerly of Allendale, died Nov. 24. She was 84. She was a long-time member of Archer United Methodist Church and the XYZ Seniors Club. She is survived by her son Gary W. Mohan of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She was predeceased by her husband Donald S. Mohan Sr. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Gertrude E. Wostbrock Neill of Midland Park died Dec. 2. She was 99. She was part owner of Wostbrock Embroidery, where she worked six days a week up until three months ago. She was a charter member of the Church of Nativity in Midland Park and a member of the Rosary Society. She was the membership chairman of the original Midland Park Senior Citizens Group for more than 10 years. She is survived by her daughter Jean M. Holden of Littleton, Massachusetts, Henry “Bud” Wostbrock of Midland Park, and William W. Wostbrock Largo, Florida, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was prede-
ceased by her first husband Henry J. Wostbrock and her second husband John Neill. Arrangements were made by the Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. John “Jack” M. Roth of Ridgewood died on Nov. 30. He was 70. He was an employee at Unilever USA for 45 years. He is survived by his wife Carol J. Roth, his children Laura L. Thompson of Oakland, Dr. J. Scott Roth of Lexington, Kentucky, and Geoffrey N. Roth of Annapolis, Maryland, and nine grandchildren. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Mark Anthony Ryan of Ramsey died Nov. 23. He was 85. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII. Before retiring in 1991, he was a senior administrator and manager in the Guidance Systems Division at Bendix where he worked for 48 years. He is survived by his wife Ann Gantner Ryan, and his children Elizabeth Ann Ryan of Mahwah, and Christine Ryan Murphy of Ramsey, two grandchildren, and his sisters, Ruth Ann Kiney of Winterville, Georgia and Carol Barry of West Dover, Vermont. He was predeceased by his son Mark Michael, and his sister Veronica Riedel. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Herbert Schneider of Ramsey died Nov. 24. He was 99. He served as pastor for six years at the Reformed Church in Linden and 32 years at the Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church in Ho-Ho-Kus. He is survived by his wife Jeanette Schneider and his children, Suzanne Klodowski, Linda Fogel, Grant Schneider, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Stephen T. “Peanuts” Sochulak Jr. of Mahwah died Nov. 27. He was 77. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He had worked for Mahwah Ford for 30 years as a forklift operator and was a bartender at Twin Bar in Mahwah. He was a Mahwah Fire CO# 2 member for 57 years and had served as Mahwah Fire Chief in 1964-65. He was a life member of Mahwah Fire Exempt Association. He was a founder of the Mahwah Fire Prevention Bureau and a member of Forest Fire Service District Fire Warden in State of New Jersey. He was a New Jersey State Fireman’s Association Life Member. He was a post commander of the Mahwah VFW 7124 in 1974-75 and a life member of the Mahwah Elks 1941. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Celebrations at Cedar Hill Cedar Hill Church in Wyckoff is offering a variety of services on the remaining Sundays in Advent and for Christmas. On Dec. 13, the there will be a 10:30 a.m. service and Rev. Norman Brown will offer “Herod the Horrible” and at 5 p.m. an informal carol sing and supper. On Dec. 20, the 10:30 a.m. service will feature the Sunday School Christmas Program and Rev. Brown’s “Jesus: The Holy Infant.” At 6 p.m. there will be a Candlelight Service with the Cedar Hill Choir and Girls’ Chorus. The Christmas Day service will be held at 10:30 a.m. and Rev. Brown will deliver “Angels: The Heralds.” On Sunday, Dec. 27, the only service will be held at 10:30 a.m. For New Year’s Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31 there will be an Old Year’s Evening Service at 7 p.m. when Rev. Brown will offer “With a Sense of the Past and Future.” On Sunday, Jan 3, Rev. Brown will deliver “A Plan for the Fullness of Time.” Cedar Hill Church is located at 422 Cedar Hill Avenue in Wyckoff. Power House prepares for Christmas A Christmas concert, “Noel: Music of Christmas,” will be presented on Friday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. at Power House Christian Church, 500 West Main Street, Wyckoff. Power House is preparing for Christmas with services that focus on a special message. On Sunday, Dec. 13 the service will feature “He Gave…Signs” and on Dec. 20 the message will be “He Gave…Himself.” Service times for both Sundays are 9 and 10:45 a.m. There will be a special service, “A Christmas Carol” around the piano on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve will offer three services: a family service at 5:30 p.m. which will include a special puppet show presented by the Pearl Puppet Theater, a 7:30 p.m. classic service that will feature candlelight and a traditional flavor, and a 11:30 p.m. service on Christmas Eve, which will be a sacred service allowing for solemn reflection. Hanukah festivities at Temple Emanuel Temple Emanuel of North Jersey, 558 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes, is offering Hanukah festivities. The Congregational Hanukah Lighting and Latkes is set for Monday, Dec. 14 from 7 to 8 p.m. The Hebrew school’s Hanukah Celebration is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. For details, call (201) 560-0200.
