DECA hosts Pancake Breakfast with Santa Ramsey High School DECA students are hosting the Second Annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the high school cafeteria. Participants will feast on pancakes, bacon, sausage, and more. Youngsters will be given a free photo with Santa. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Proceeds to benefit the local youth-in-action group “Outside the Box,” raising money for a Clean Water Campaign in Sierra Leone. Call (201) 760-1237 to purchase tickets. Holiday Decorating Contest underway The Ramsey Recreation Commission’s 2009 Holiday Decorating Contest, sponsored by Brady’s at the Station, is underway. Scheuermann named to President’s List Caitlyn Scheuermann of Ramsey has been named to the President’s List at Berkeley College, Bergen Campus, Paramus for the summer 2009 quarter. Berkeley College students who achieve a grade point average of 4.0 with a minimum of 12 credits qualify for the President’s List. Hockey Association hosts Devils fundraiser The Ramsey Hockey Association has a limited number of tickets to the New Jersey Devils vs. Ottawa Senators game at Prudential Center on Friday Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. for sale. On the program will be a special appearance of the Ramsey Mites on Ice between the first and second periods. Tickets are $39 (regular price is $56.) This year’s theme is “joy.” The cost is $10 per person. Mommy and Me walks end for season The Mommy and Me Monday walks organized by the Ramsey Board of Health have ended for the season and will resume in the spring. The 8 a.m. Ramsey Walks group will continue to walk Monday through Saturday throughout the winter, except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This group walks when the weather is fair or slightly inclement (drizzle but not rain, flurries but not a storm), and when the temperature is above 20 degrees. Walkers arrive at Varka’s parking lot
(Carol and North Spruce Street) by 8 a.m. Following the walk, the group gathers for coffee at the Finch Park Senior Center. The Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. Ramsey Walks group and the Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. Ramsey Walks group will also continue to meet throughout the winter. These groups assemble at the Interstate entrance to the Bike Path. All groups welcome fast and slow walkers, including people who need to rest on a bench along the way. At 2:29 p.m. on Nov. 25, Patrolman Mike Parise was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business for a shoplifter in custody. An investigation revealed a 59-yearold Mahwah woman had concealed merchandise and exited the store. The woman was arrested for shoplifting. On Nov. 26 at 9:05 p.m., Patrolman Casey Hines was dispatched to a North Franklin Turnpike address for an intoxicated male. During the investigation a 24-year-old

Ramsey man was arrested. During the arrest, cocaine was located on the individual. Sergeant Angelo LaManna was dispatched to an Interstate Shopping Center business on Nov. 29 at 2:44 p.m. on the report of a shoplifter in custody. The investigation revealed that an 82-year-old Suffern, New York man had concealed merchandise and attempted to exit the store. The man was arrested for shoplifting.
