On Nov. 20, a 41-year-old Towaco man was arrested on Route 287 South for driving while intoxicated after the officer stopped the man for speeding. The officer interviewed the man and conducted field tests that resulted in his arrest for DWI. The man was charged and released to a friend with a court appearance required in Mahwah. At the appointed court hearing, it was discovered that the man gave the officer false identification the night he was arrested. Complaints were filed for the false information charge and will be heard at a later date. Also on Nov. 20, a 23-year-old Edison man was arrested on Ramapo Valley Road for possession of marijuana after the officer stopped the man for an equipment violation on his vehicle. ijuana cigarette in plain view inside the vehicle. The man was arrested and later released with a future court appearance required in Mahwah. A 20-year-old Staten Island, New York man was arrested Nov. 21 on Route 287 South for possession of marijuana after the officer stopped the car he was in for an obstructed windshield. The officer interviewed the man after speaking to the driver. The man admitted to possessing the marijuana and turned it over to the officer. The man was charged and released with a court appearance required in Mahwah. On Nov. 22, a 19-year-old Leonia man was arrested at Ramapo College for disorderly conduct and underage consumption of alcohol after the officer was called to investigate a disturbance. The officer interviewed the man and a
witness to the incident. The man had entered a dorm room and caused damage in his intoxicated state. He was charged and later released to another police agency due to an outstanding traffic warrant. He will have to appear in Mahwah Municipal Court on the original charges.
