Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • December 2, 2009 Mahwah Local seniors, students win WinterFest art contests The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce tapped the talent of local artists to help promote its upcoming WinterFest, a first-of-its-kind celebration of the season in the township. WinterFest will include events, contests, and activities for everyone. Participants from the Mahwah Senior Center entered a line drawing contest to create a winter setting for one of the town’s most familiar historical sites: the Old Train Station and Caboose. The first place winner of the seniors’ line drawing contest is Tony Baldo. His drawing will be reproduced for a coloring contest in January and distributed to Mahwah students in grades K through five. Mahwah students submitted entries for a poster contest depicting WinterFest activities. First place winners of the student poster contest are Erin Nilsenn, for grades eight through 10; and Lauren Gold, for grades 11 through 12. All poster contest entries will be displayed at the Mahwah Public Library during WinterFest. The names of all prizewinners and images of the winning posters are displayed on the Chamber website www.mahwah.com. Scheduled for Dec. 4 through Jan. 30, WinterFest is a family-friendly, intergenerational, interdenominational way for area residents to enjoy the season, to help those in need, and to bring the business and civic communities together. WinterFest has over 48 events on its agenda, including shows and exhibits. Businesses, organizations, and families may become WinterFest sponsors online at www.mahwah.com or by calling the Chamber office at (201) 529-5566.
