Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES IV • December 2, 2009 Emmanuel asks... Can You Help? Our hat’s off to Midland Park Cub Scouts Troop 157 for the collection of grocery items. We thank Glen Rock’s Coleman School Daisy Troop for collecting and donating candy. Speaking of help, we need a driver to deliver food once a month to a family in Chester. So far, the usual excitement and attention the community devotes to contributing holiday dinners and gifts for the kids has been on the low side. I am hoping that this picks up, because it has never been an issue. The children of Emmanuel Cancer have given us their wish list for a holiday gift. If you would like to adopt a child for the December holiday, please call us at (201) 6128118. You can consider the December Holiday Dinner as a giving idea. If you are interested are two ways to help: If you are in a hurry, simply buy a gift card at your local 4-29-09 karen/janine chain grocery store. Figure out what it would cost to buy EmmanuelHelp3x.75(4-29-09) the turkey or ham) for a family all the groceries (including of six. 3 x .75 The amount of the card could be anywhere from $40 to $60 for the basics, or higher if you add in any extra things. You can put together a basket, bag, or box of nonperishable items that a family can use to create a holiday meal. Suggested items include stuffing, turkey gravy or gravy master, canned yams, a disposable turkey pan, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, pie filling, pie crust, yams, potatoes, onions, coffee and tea, cake mix and icing, pancake mix and syrup (for breakfast, of course!) and a chain grocery store gift certificate for a turkey and other fresh items. You can augment the dinner with a frozen turkey. Call us and we’ll give you a family. All you need to do is assemble the foods and drop them off here at the Midland Park office. We will deliver it to them in time for the Holiday. Important announcement: Please help Emmanuel Cancer Foundation with a click of a mouse: http://www. justmeans.com/contestidea?ideaid=MTQ5.
