Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average are named to the Dean’s List. Club travels to Mount Haven The Leisure Club of Ramsey is sponsoring a bus trip to Mount Haven Country Resort in Mount Haven, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Sept. 15. There will be a country breakfast buffet upon arrival. Afternoon activities include live entertainment with a four hour open bar followed by a gourmet buffet dinner. Seniors invited to picnic at pool The annual picnic for seniors will be held at the Ramsey Pool on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at noon. All seniors over the age of 60 are invited to attend. Sign up will begin on Monday, Aug. 24 at borough hall. The price is $5 per person. The picnic menu consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cold slaw, refreshments, and desserts. Participants should bring folding beach chairs. This event marks the beginning of the eighth year that a small group of Ramsey citizens organized a committee to oversee activities for “Over 60” senior citizens at the Knights of Columbus Hall. This group has successfully managed to graduate to a senior center in Finch Park where there are daily activities to attract most senior residents interested in meeting new friends and enjoying an active lifestyle. Junior Football hosts fundraiser On Saturday, Aug. 22 Classic Auto Spa on 17 North in Ramsey will be hosting the Ramsay Football Association’s Hot Dog Bonanza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event celebrates the opening of the RJFA 2009 season. (Rain date: Aug. 23.) The hot dogs are free of charge, but all donations made at this event will be donated to the RJFA. Movie Night & Blood Drive planned The Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey has partnered with the Ramsey Recreation Commission and Community Blood Services in Paramus to conduct a Blood Drive on Friday, Aug. 28 from 4:30 until 8 p.m. at Finch Park in Ramsey. Participants are welcome to donate blood and then stay for the movie, “Bolt,” which will start at dusk. The Blood Mobile will be set up at Finch Park, located at 25 Gertzen Plaza, in front of the Senior Center. Blood donors are advised to eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors will receive complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Walk-ins are welcome. Trip to US Open set The Ramsey Recreation Commission is sponsoring a trip to the morning session of the US Open on Monday, Sept. 7. The bus will leave the Ramsey High School main parking lot at 9:30 a.m. The cost of a ticket and round trip bus transportation is $65 per person. There is a limit of four tickets per person. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. All children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Grace Baptist announces summer hours Grace Baptist Church at 191 North Central Avenue in Ramsey has moved to its summer schedule. For the summer months, there will be no Sunday School or ABF classes. Sunday morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and light refreshments will be served following the service. All are invited. Juniors welcome new members Beginning Sept. 10, the Junior Woman’s Club of Ramsey will hold monthly meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. RHS Band hosts fundraiser The Ramsey High School Marching Band and Guard Parents’ Association is selling tickets for its fundraiser. All proceeds will support the band’s activities throughout the school year. The band will be performing in London and France this holiday season. The Parents’ Association is selling tickets for $20 each. First prize is 40 percent of gross receipts up to $40,000, second prize six and a half percent up to $6,500, and third prize three and a half percent up to $3,500. The winners will be announced at the Marching Band Home Show held at Ramsey High School on Oct. 17. Tickets are available from any band parent or by contacting Eileen at (201) 8253083.
