Rowan announces Dean’s List Rowan University in Glassboro has named the following Ramsey students to its Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester: Christopher A. Del Vecchio, Kate E. Maher, Kevin M. O’Connor, and Todd R. Pritchard. RHS Band hosts fundraiser The Ramsey High School Marching Band and Guard Parent’s Association is selling tickets for its fundraiser. All proceeds will support the band’s activities throughout the school year. The marching band will be performing at the London New Year’s Day Parade, and the New Year’s Eve parade in Chantilly, France. The Parent’s Association is selling tickets for $20 each. First prize is forty percent of gross receipts up to $40,000, second prize six and a half percent up to $6,500, and third prize three and a half percent up to $3,500. The winners
will be announced at the Marching Band Home Show held at Ramsey High School on Oct. 17. Tickets are available from any band parent or by contacting Eileen Gauthier at (201) 825-3083. They will also be available for sale at the following Ramsey businesses: Subway, Ramsey Corner Cafe, and Rainbow Cafe. Trip to US Open set The Ramsey Recreation Commission is sponsoring a trip to the morning session of the US Open on Monday, Sept. 7. The bus will leave the Ramsey High School main parking lot at 9:30 a.m. The cost of a ticket and round trip bus transportation is $65 per person. There is a limit of four tickets per person. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. All children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Summer video series offered First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey is offering a weekly discussion group featuring the videos by Rob Bell, a pastor in Michigan on Aug. 5 and 12 at 7 p.m. in the Metzger Room. The videos are on biblical themes that inspire provocative, spirited discussion. Refreshments will be served. This program is for teens and adults. Summer schedule at Redeemer The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Ramsey is now on its summer schedule, with one service of Holy Communion at 9:15 a.m. A time for refreshments and conversation follows in the Fellowship Room. Both the sanctuary and the Fellowship Room are air-conditioned and barrier-free. For the summer months, there will be no Sunday School or ABF classes. Sunday morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. Coffee and light refreshments will be served following the service. Alzheimer’s support group offered A new Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet the first Monday evening of each month at The First Presbyterian Church of Ramsey, 15 Shuart Lane in Ramsey at 7 p.m. This new support group is for families and caregivers and is being offered through the trained facilitators at Distinctive Care Geriatric Care Management in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey.
