A Mahwah High School senior, Wong draws when she is not at school, concert band, soccer or track. Currently, her favorite class is structural design. Architecture has become one of her top interests because it combines her passion for design and exercises her mathematical abilities. Basketball fundraiser planned Mahwah Fire Department Company #2 will play the Mahwah Board of Education in the third annual Patrick Roe Scholarship Basketball Game on May 1. The game will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ramapo Ridge Middle School, 150 Ridge Road, Mahwah. The cost for admission is $5. Tickets will be sold at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Patrick Roe Scholarship Fund. Third Annual Taste of Mahwah set The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold the third Taste of the Region event for members and non-members on Wednesday, June 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel, 1 International Boulevard in Mahwah. The event will feature samplings of foods from many local restaurants and caterers, in addition to wine tasting and live music. Participating vendors can be found on the MRCC website and will be listed also in the Taste of the Region Buyers Guide. Current sponsors for the Taste of the Region are the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel, Wainscot Media, Two by Two, RVP Digital Printing, The Cleaning Authority, Coffee News, Gene Gouss Photography, Inc. and Beverly Hills Hand Car Wash & Detailing. Additional limited sponsorships are available on a firstcome, first-served basis at the price of $500 for members and $600 for non-members, including event sponsor table and two admission tickets. Door prize donations with a food/beverage theme are also welcome, and all donations will be listed in the Taste of the Region Buyers Guide. The cost of the event will be $50 per person. A 20 percent discount is available with the purchase of 10 or more tickets. Prepaid reservations are required, and an additional $5 processing fee will be charged if paid after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. In addition, any unserved food from the event will be donated to the community-based food rescue program, Table to Table, to deliver to organizations that serve the hungry in Bergen County. Immaculate Conception offers program on Saint Paul The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mahwah is sponsoring a program exploring the incredible conversion and witness of one of Christianity’s most remarkable saints, Saint Paul the Apostle on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. “Conversion: Following in the Footsteps of Saint Paul” will feature a presentation by Paulist Father, Rev. The Chamber offers this $1,500 scholarship to students currently attending, or planning to enter, Ramapo College in the 2009-10 academic year. The scholarship is open to Chamber members and their children, employees of Chamber members and their children, and Chamber employees and their children. During the month of May the film series “It’s Epic” will celebrate the big screen’s biggest movies. “Dr. Zhivago” will play on Thursday May 7; “Ben Hur” on Thursday May 14; “Lawrence of Arabia” onThursday May 21; and “Titanic” on Thursday May 28, These films are free.
