Before retiring in 1996, he was a professor of chemical engineering at New York University and Manhattan College. He was also a consultant for Exxon, Mobil Oil, and Hydroqual. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his daughters Lisa Famularo of Red Bank, Donna Troop of Ramsey, and Gina Springer of Mahwah, four grandchildren, and his brother Richard of Monroe, New York. Boland, STD, Archdiocese of Newark, on May 23, 1964. He served as parochial vicar at Holy Spirit/Help of Christians Parish in East Orange (1964-76), chaplain at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Orange (1976-81), parochial vicar at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in North Arlington (1981-82), parochial vicar at Immaculate Conception Parish in Secaucus (1982-84), parochial vicar at Holy Trinity RC Church in Hackensack (1985-87), pastor of Saint Anne Parish in Jersey City (1990-94), parochial vicar at Saint Catherine of Sienna Parish in Hillside (1994-95) and pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Garfield (1995-2004). He is survived by his brother Stanley F. Gurski, his nieces Marybeth Markland and Nicole Stanchina, and two great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Helen J. (nee Jasinski). Winifred F. Leyland, nee Stout, of Mahwah, formerly of Ridgewood and Allendale, died April 14. She was 94. He is survived by his children Ryan Murphy, Nicole Wolfgram, and Suzanne Murphy, two grandchildren, his siblings Susan Faustmann, Gerald and Donald Murphy, and his uncle Rev. Joseph H. Murphy. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth O’ Brien, his children Adrienne Beattie, Kevin O’ Brien, Michael O’ Brien, Laurence O’ Brien, Brendan O’ Brien, Vincent O’ Brien, and Peter O’ Brien, and 10 grandchildren. Before retiring, she was a secretary for Simpson Roofing for many years. She is survived by her sister Audrey Serafin of Garfield, her step-children Patricia Post and Charles Post Jr., three grandchildren. and two great-grandchildren. Gurski Mahwah PBA participates in charitable events Members of Mahwah Police Department PBA Local 143 will be sponsoring a checkpoint along with other area organizations at the upcoming March of Dimes, March for Babies which will be held at Darlington County Park in Mahwah on Sunday, April 26 at 9 a.m. Participating Mahwah PBA members hand out water, snacks, and lots of encouragement to walk participants. The March of Dimes’ mission is to prevent birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Currently the group’s number one priority is to find the causes of and prevention for premature birth. One out of every eight babies is born too soon.
