Kearney scored 410.50 points for 11 dives. This was her third, and best, personal performance in the HS Dive championships, where she finished 11th in 2008 and 12th in 2007. Kearney was also the Star-Ledger Bergen County female diver of the year for both years. Kearney competed against talented divers from around the state. Carissa Santora of Mainland Regional HS won with a score of 445.20 and Danica Roskos of Hopewell Valley placed second with a score of 420.95. The NJSIAA Dive rules are that all girls must perform six dives in the first round. The field is then cut to the top 20 divers, each of whom participates in a second round of three dives. Another cut is made, leaving the final 16 divers who execute another three dives. All divers must perform six optional dives with a minimum degree of difficulty (DD) of 12.3 and five voluntary dives with a maximum DD of 9.0. The final score is for all 11 dives. This fall, Kearney will attend Rutgers University, where she will study marine sciences and continue her diving career. She is looking forward to competing in the Big East Conference. She previously dove for VBA Diving in Suffern, New York, and currently dives for Lord of the Boards in Somerville. She is a member of the AAU and the USA diving associations. This summer, she will be a league dive coach for the Mahwah Marlins. Kearney, a previous member of the Marlins team, is also a former Bergen County Summer Dive Champion.
