The shop offers clothing and household items. ����������������������������������������������� Influenza & pneumococcal vaccines offered Adult influenza and pneumococcal vaccines will be available to Allendale residents age 65 years and older at borough hall on Thursday, Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. All recipients must have a prescription from their medical doctor ordering the influenza injection in order to receive the vaccine. The cost is $20. Participants must present their Medicare card and any other applicable insurance card. Clients who are covered by a managed care plan (HMO) are requested to go to their managed care provider for these immunizations. Those who are interested in the influenza vaccine, but are allergic to eggs or any component of influenza vaccine, including Thimerosal (mercury) or who have had a previous allergic reaction, will not be given the vaccine. Those who have an acute respiratory infection or other infections conditions, and those who are currently receiving Coumadin, Therophylline/Slo-bid/Theodur, should consult with their personal physician or local hospital clinic before receiving the vaccine. Those interested in the pneumococcal vaccine who are allergic to Phenol or Thimerosal (mercury) or who have received the pneumococcal vaccine in the past five years or who had a previous allergic reaction to the pneumococcal vaccine, have a fever, or who are currently receiving radiation or chemotherapy should not receive the shot. Pneumococcal vaccine recipients must be 65 or older or permanently disabled and never have had the vaccine before. A medical doctor’s prescription will be required for anyone under 65, and for those with a chronic health problem. The cost for this vaccine will be $45. Box Tops fundraiser launched Hillside and Brookside schools have launched the district’s 2009-10 Box Tops for Education fundraising campaign. Residents are asked to clip designated box tops from hundreds of favorite products and send them to Hillside School, Attention Maria Aiello, Box Tops Coordinator, 89 Hillside Avenue, Allendale, NJ, 07401. Participants may sign up to support Hillside and Brookside schools on the Box Tops website at www.btfe.com. The schools earn a percentage of participants’ purchases when they shop through the Box Tops MarketplaceSM. Schools can also earn a percentage of books purchased through the Box Tops Reading RoomSM. Box Tops for Education is a school fundraising program started by General Mills in 1996. To date, Box Tops has helped America’s schools raise over $250 million to buy items they need but cannot always afford, such as library books, school supplies, and playground equipment. The program offers school supporters three easy ways to earn cash for schools through everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online, and purchasing books.
