This unique race will be swum by dozens of rubber ducks as a fundraiser for the Waldwick Lions. “Since our club’s inception in 1955, we have raised over $1,500,000,” said Bob Lion. “These monies have been returned to the local community and sight related charities. These funds have benefited countless people in Waldwick and beyond. A portion of the proceeds from the Ducky Derby will be used to refurbish the Waldwick Lions Playground, a centerpiece of Borough Park.” The Waldwick Lions have teamed up with the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce to take advantage of the success of Waldwick Day. This Chamber-sponsored event draws 3,000 to 4,000 people to the park for a day filled with games, food, entertainment, and local merchants displaying their latest wares. Everyone is invited to adopt a duck at $5 each. Duck adoptions will be available at the park prior to the start of the race. The ducks will begin their race in White’s Pond at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 27. Prizes will be awarded to the owner of the winning duck; the winner need not be present. (Rain date will be Oct. 4.) • Easy to stir • Fills surface cracks up to 1/8” • Dries to touch in 4 hours.
