Page 16 THE VILLADOM TIMES II, III & IV • September 9, 2009 �������������������������� Wyckoff Wanderings Annual memorial service set The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual 9/11 Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11. The memorial will be held at the Fallen Firefighters Memorial at Fire House #1, which is behind Wyckoff Town Hall at 340 Franklin Avenue. The Fallen Firefighters Memorial is dedicated to Dana Hannon, the Wyckoff volunteer firefighter and New York Fire Department firefighter lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. The public is invited. Temple hosts barbeque Temple Beth Rishon will kick off the new year with its annual barbecue on Sept. 13 at 2:30 p.m. The event will include games, food, and music by the Rishon Trio featuring Gale Bindelglass, Jane Koch and Cantor Ilan Mamber with Irwin Tessler on guitar and Jimmy Cohen on percussion. Attendees will get to meet with clergy and temple members. Committee representatives will be available to welcome visitors and introduce them to temple programs. Admission is free for members. The cost for non-members is $15 per adult and $8 per child, with a maximum of $40 per family. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling the Temple at (201) 891-4466. Temple Beth Rishon is located at 585 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Adult mini-school offered Registration is underway for the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School, a project of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Study Jewish history, laws, beliefs, practices, and ideas in a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere. Classes, which meet for two hours once a week for 28 weeks, will be held at Temple Beth Rishon, 585 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff, on Mondays beginning Oct. 12. Chamber to host business card exchange The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce will hold a general membership meeting on Monday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. This evening business card exchange is being hosted by Devon Fine Jewelers, 303 Franklin Avenue. Community blood drives planned Members of the community will have two opportunities in September to donate blood for the Wyckoff Community Blood Drive. In cooperation with Community Blood Services, donors may give blood on Sept. 10 at Fitness Together, 386 Franklin Avenue, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. On Sept. 13, Temple Rishon will host the drive from 2:30 to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation.
