Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • September 2, 2009 Emmanuel asks... Can You Help? News from Northern Region of the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation: Our hat’s off to the Wyckoff senior citizens’ group for the monthly food collection. A donor in Ho-Ho-Kus gets our thanks for contributing gift cards for ice cream and grocery stores. You can maker a difference this fall by contributing funds, gift cards, or nonperishable foods. This past spring, Madison, age 13, found herself feeling a little confused, distracted, and nauseated one afternoon at school. When she came home and told her mom, Susan, she was taken to her pediatrician, who recognized that this was not just a case of the flu. After a variety of tests, and the fact that the symptoms were getting worse and now included headaches, it was discovered that Madison had a small tumor growing on her 4-29-09 karen/janine brain. Susan and her ex-husband were EmmanuelHelp2x.75(4-29-09) in shock. Then the troubles started to mount. Over time, Susan was directed 3 x .75 to our foundation by the social worker at the hospital where Madison was receiving her care. After an initial assessment, the caseworker called this office to request a monthly food delivery, financial help, and clothing. “They were really great to me and my family when we were at our lowest point!” said Susan about our help. This family is still dealing with serious issues and could use help from our Family Financial Assistance Program. Your contribution of money, food, gift cards, or clothing (call us for sizes) can really help. To help: Call us at (201) 612-8118 before you stop by.
