October 21, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 11 The Borough of Waldwick has received a $2,500 fire prevention grant from FM Global, a leading property insurer of the world’s largest businesses based in Johnston, RI. FM Global representatives presented the award to Mayor Russell J. Litchult, Fire Chief Walt Riker, and Council President Donald Sciolaro during last week’s mayor and council meeting. The award will be used to assist with pre-fire planning to efficiently collect and track data related to local community buildings. The funds will allow the fire department to purchase Waldwick Fire Department gets prevention grant a new lap top that the fire chief can have at the scene of a fire. A new software program displays the floor plans of the building to which the firefighters have been called and the location of water mains and fire hydrants in the area. “With this equipment, the chief will have a better command of the scene and can deploy his forces more expeditiously and safely,” commented Borough Administrator Gary Kratz.
