Inductees include: The Scavone brothers: Robert A., Class of 1978, Franklin Lakes: Stephen M., Class of 1979, Mahwah; Thomas E., Class of 1981, Wyckoff; Edward J., Class of 1984, Mahwah; and James J., Class of 1985, Ramsey. The Scavone brothers are partners in Wizard Capital, LLC and founders of Big Board Partners, LLC, of Ramsey. Michael Betsy, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with a specialty in sports medicine. Dr. Betsy graduated from Don Bosco Prep in 1990, and earned degrees from Harvard University and Dartmouth Medical School. Don Bosco Prep will honor alumni, parents, and friends at the eighth annual Presidents Gala, a semi-formal evening of awards, dinner and dancing to be held Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The gala will be held at the Westmount Country Club, in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson). Rev. Louis J. Molinelli, SDB, director/ president of Don Bosco Prep, and alumnus of the Class of 1979, will bestow several honorary awards upon area charitable organizations. The 2009 Humanitarian Award will be presented to The Alfiero and Lucia Palestroni Foundation of Englewood Cliffs. This foundation was established by the late Alfiero Palestroni, a developer and Bergen County property owner. Alfiero Palestroni and Lucia, his wife of 35 years, made it their goal to assist individuals working to overcome disabilities. Lucia Palestroni and Christine Sayrafe, executive director of the foundation, are scheduled to accept the award. The 2009 Community Service Award will be presented to Saint Johns Soup Kitchen of Newark. Operated by Saint John’s Roman Catholic Church on McCarter Highway, the soup kitchen serves 700 breakfasts and lunches to the homeless and needy, Tuesday through Saturday. Rev. Msgr. Neil J. Mahoney, pastor of Saint John’s Church, Parish Manager Vincent Smith and Soup Kitchen Manager Barbara Maran will accept the award. Rev. Louis J.
