Ha! Kus: Improv 4 Kids. This program will be held Sunday, Oct. 25 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the HoHo-Kus Public School auditorium. Doors will open at 2:15 p.m. The cost is $10 per family, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Improv 4 Kids, a professional theater group, will entertain young audiences and their families through creative comedy arts. The show is a high-energy, high-impact performance featuring talented professionals who present original characters, stories, skits, songs, and dances based on audience suggestions. Italian Festival set Saint Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, will celebrate the feast of Saint Luke on Sunday, Oct. 18, with an Italian Festival in the church gymnasium. The celebration of Italian food and culture, music, and dancing will begin after the noon Mass. Authentic Italian food supplied by Garbo’s of Ho-Ho-Kus will include antipasto, a variety of pasta dishes, chicken francaise, eggplant rollatini, salads, bread, assorted desserts, beer, wine, soda, coffee, and tea. Attendees will have the opportunity to win theme baskets and prizes. Tickets are $20 for adults and $7 for children ages five through 17. Children under five will be admitted free of charge. TEEN CERT training to begin Ho-Ho-Kus teens, ages 13 through 17, are invited to join the TEEN Community Emergency Response Team. With the written permission of a parent or guardian, teens may enroll in the same basic course of instruction as those 18 and over. Once the teens are certified, they will not be doing the same work as those who are 18 and over unless written permission is provided. The training course at the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute in Mahwah will begin Oct. 7. Ho-Ho-Kus teens who wish to attend this course and join the Ho-Ho-Kus CERT, with their parents’ or guardians’ written permission, should immediately contact Stanley Kober at (201) 445-1121. Class of 1979 to host 30th reunion The Ho-Ho-Kus Public School Class of 1979 is having its 30th Reunion the weekend of Oct 16 through 18. Loder displays at library Ho-Ho-Kus resident Dr. Peter Cameron Loder will display his drawings at The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus during the month of October. The drawings were done while Loder was traveling in Europe in 1961. Sketch subjects range from the aqueducts and temples of ancient Greece and Rome, to simple farmhouses, more elegant half-timbered townhouses, magnificent chateaux, and churches of varying architectural styles. The library is located at 91 Warren Avenue. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary plans October Beefsteak event The Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will host its Second Annual Beefsteak Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The event will be held at Saint Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus. The evening will feature a DJ, an allyou-can-eat beefsteak from Nightingale Catering, soda, coffee, and dessert. Reservations are $40 per person. Seniors host events The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Education Building of the Hermitage. Beverages and desserts are served at noon, and programs begin at 1 p.m. or as noted. Residents age 55 and up are welcome to attend. On Oct. 13, wildlife photographer and author Douglas Goodell will present “Images of China: Timely and Timeless.” This slide program is a photo journey through some of the great wonders of China, with majestic scenes of the Great Wall, rough peaks at Yellow Mountain, rice terraces, and spectacular sights in Beijing. The seniors will travel to the Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, New York for Oktoberfest on Wednesday, Oct. 23. There they will enjoy a meal and a day of music, dancing, and entertainment.
