Allendale November 25, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 Board accepts gifts and donations for schools The Allendale Board of Education recently accepted a number of gifts and donations to enhance the quality of education at the Hillside and Brookside schools at no additional cost to the taxpayers. The gifts from the Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence included more than $30,000 in technical equipment for the students at Brookside School. Gifts included donations of $15,249 for united streaming, $7,292 for a portable Smartboard for world languages, $6,292 for another portable Smartboard, $4,500 for monitors for the TV studio, and $1,119 for a digital recorder for the TV studio. Gifts to the Hillside School of more than $15,000 included $5,292 for a Smartboard for grade three, another $5,292 for a Smartboard for the music program, $3,200 for Eugene Petrov Dance for grades one and two, $2,695 for Theater Week for grades one, two, and three, $850 for a program on birds of prey for grade three, a program called “High Tech – High Touch – Matter” for grade one at $712, a program called “High Tech – High Sound – Sound” at $675 for grade two, and $450 for a program on the Lenape tribe for grade three. The Municipal Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse also donated two programs to the school system: “Footprints for Life,” at a value of $2,750, which will include six sessions per class for third graders in November, December, and January; and “Positive Parenting” for parents of students in grades four to five in November and December. The families of Dr. Ameri and Dr. Lagashi also donated $500 for the purchase of author study books for the Hillside School. J.
