VFW seeks memorabilia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 192 in Ho-Ho-Kus is seeking photos, newspaper clippings, post cards, maps, aerial photos, and similar items featuring Ho-Ho-Kus and the immediate area, including the Hopper-Zabriskie Cemetery on First Street in Ho-Ho-Kus, prior to 1966. Box Tops for Education drive underway The Home and School Association will be collecting Box Tops for Education Labels throughout the 200910 school year. The community is asked to save the labels on purchases and bring them to the collection box located in borough hall. Each label is worth 10 cents to the school. Borough hall changes hours of operation Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall hours of operation have been changed to 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. (Hours were previously 8:30 to 5.) The change will eliminate the need for shift changes of borough hall employees and will cut down on energy use. The change will not affect the 35-hour work week for borough hall employees. Hours of operation for the Ho-Ho-Kus Department of Public Works and police department will remain unchanged. Library accepts exhibits The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library invites local artists, collectors or area residents with interesting collections to contact the library if they would be interested in displaying their collections at the library located at 91 Warren Avenue. The items would be on display for a month’s time. Interested individuals should contact the library director, Sandy Witkowski at (201) 445-8078. VFW welcomes new members The Ho-Ho-Kus VFW, which serves Ho-Ho-Kus and Ridgewood, welcomes new members. The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Post Home, 620 Cliff Street, Ho-Ho-Kus. For additional information, call (201) 445-1121. Local phone directory available The Woman’s Club of Ho-Ho-Kus has phone directories of the town available for sale. They can be purchased at borough hall, located at 333 Warren Avenue, for $5 each. All proceeds will support the club’s philanthropic programs, including the scholarship fund for local students. Worth-Pinkham Library offers Internet The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library has wireless Internet service. Anyone can come in and use a laptop in the library or use one of the three computers the library has available to the public. The Worth-Pinkham Library is located at 91 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Sewing group to meet The sewing group that is held at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library now meets the first Thursday of each month. Club hosts Breakfast with Santa The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus is sponsoring its annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School’s multi-purpose room. Children are invited to visit with Santa, enjoy breakfast, and participate in holiday activities. Children will be encouraged to experience the joy of sharing with others by donating non-perishable food items to the “Giving Tree.” Tickets are $10 per person and are available by sending an e-mail to Susan at schester7@hotmail.com. The school is located at 70 Lloyd Road, Ho-Ho-Kus. Club opens display to public The Ramapo Valley Model Railroad Club will hold its 49th Annual Holiday Show Nov. 28 and 29 and Dec. 12, 13, and 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 620 Cliff Street, Ho-Ho-Kus. The multi-tiered layout features bridges, tunnels, mountains, yards, engine facilities, farms, and a mine. Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children under the age of 12. Call Dennis Alderman at (845) 359-0746. Seniors plan holiday luncheon The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors will host a “Christmas around the World” luncheon at the Brownstone in Paterson on Thursday, Dec. 3. The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Hermitage Education Building on Franklin Turnpike. The Dec. 8 meeting will be the last one for 2009.
