Ruth Bauer of Midland Park died Nov. 8. She was 84. She had been employed in the accounting department of Johnson & Johnson Co. in Ramsey and New Brunswick. Previous to that, she was a bookkeeper/treasurer for Jacobs Manufacturing in Paterson. She was a member of the Passaic County Historical Society Genealogy Club in Paterson and the Genealogical Society of Bergen County. She was a former member of the Central Reformed Church in Paterson and a member of the Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Brian H. Bauer of Griswold, Connecticut, and Kenneth W. Bauer of Glen Rock, four grandchildren, and her sisters Jane Verbeke of Hawthorne and Grace Platvoet of Hamburg. She was predeceased by her husband William H. Bauer Jr. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. She was 93. She had worked in her sons’ restaurants including Hoagie House, The Bottom of the Barrel, Talk of the Town, and the Grand Saloon. She is survived by her husband Louis DeCenzo, her children Robert, Joy, Sheila and Johanna, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She is survived by her children Kenneth of Warwick, New York and Nancy Carlson of Highland Lakes, and two grandsons. She was predeceased by her husband Roy A. Freitag and her son Gary A. Freitag. She had been employed as an executive secretary for American Management Association in New York City. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood. She was a past president of the Rosary Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a hospice volunteer and served on the board of directors of the Community Thrift Shop and was a member of Highlights in Leisure Time. She is survived by her siblings William J. Kissane, Patricia White and Dorothy Nothofer, and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood.

Edward J. Mulhare of Ridgewood died Nov. 8. He was 17. He was a senior at Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood. He is survived by his parents Keith and Elizabeth Mulhare of Ridgewood, his brother Blaine of Ridgewood and his grandparents Edward and Kathleen Mulhare of River Edge and John and Theresa Sagurton of Bronx, New York. Before retiring, she was secretary for the Program for the Hearing Impaired for Bergen County Special Services. She is survived by her husband Joseph, her children Eileen Clancy, Cynthia Piano, Sarah, William and James O’Dowd, seven grandchildren, and her siblings Anne Kennedy, Jane Kenney, Catherine Gorman and William Hartman. She is survived by her son Robert Skudera of Midland Park, five grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William and her son William. Sigler of Ramsey, Debra Greulich of Lancaster, South Carolina, and Gordon W. Sigler of Dumont, six grandchildren, and her brother Jack Griggs of Seminole, Florida. She was employed in educational administration for 40 years. She served the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus as the first councilwoman from 1991 through 1995 and as the first woman mayor from 1996 through 2003. During her tenure in office, she was a member of the planning board, commissioner of public relations, deputy commissioner of roads and parks, council liaison to library board, council liaison to Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce, council liaison to recreation com-

She was a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Blood Donors Association, the Explorer Scout Scholarship Committee, the HoHo-Kus Woman’s Club, the Hermitage Advisory Council, The Community Church Guild, the Cedar Crest Protestant Council, the Ho-Ho-Kus Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, and was previously a Valley Hospital volunteer. She was retired charter organization representative to Troop 54 and Cub Pack 54 from which she retired after 20 years of service as a member of the troop committee. She was given honorary member status by the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department, the Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department, and the Auxiliary of the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department. She was a member of The Community Church of Ho-Ho-Kus. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Jane Ellis Miller, her stepson, John Thompson, six nieces and nephews, and 13 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands Stuart Thompson and John A. Ellis, her sons Charles Thompson and Jackie Ellis, her grandson Eric Miller, and her siblings Peter Jared Paulison Jr. and Anne Tabbert. Donald S. Uhlig of Wyckoff died Nov. 8. He was 51. He was the president of Don Uhlig Associates. He had coached soccer and softball with the Wyckoff Recreation Department. He is survived by his wife Brenda Uhlig (nee Paul), his daughter Blair, his mother Lillian “Billie” Uhlig (nee Schweizer) of Wyckoff, and his sister Leslie Schmidt of Clifton.
