The municipal offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. The Wyckoff Recycling Center will also be closed on Nov. 26 and 27, and will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be no curbside leaf collection on Thanksgiving Day. DPW leaf collections will resume Nov. 27. Residents are urged to visit www.wyckoff-nj.com for updates regarding leaf collection. Anyone who registers his or her e-mail address at the site registration line will receive leaf collection updates via e-mail. Curbside garbage pickup will be suspended on Nov. 26. Garbage scheduled for pickup on Thanksgiving Day will be collected on Friday, Nov. 27. The Wyckoff Public Library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and will remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 26. The library will reopen Friday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. Viennese New Year’s Day Gala set Manfred Knoop, director of music at the Church of Saint Elizabeth in Wyckoff, will conduct an orchestra of 50 musicians during the eighth annual Viennese New Year’s Gala at The Brownstone in Paterson on Jan 1. This event, held from 3 to 7 p.m., is modeled after the annual New Year’s Day celebration in Vienna, Austria, celebrating the soaring melodies of Johann Strauss. Professional musicians will lend their talents to the occasion, which will feature a buffet dinner and dancing. The cost is $95 per person. ‘Ask the Rabbi’ discussions offered Preschool parents are invited to the “Ask the Rabbi” holiday discussions at Temple Beth Rishon with Rabbi Ken Emert. Participants will learn about the Jewish holidays, and the rituals and traditions meant to be shared with the family. Discussions for Chanukah are scheduled for Dec. 2. Operation Chill Chaser underway Girl Scout Troop 328 is organizing Operation Chill Chaser, the Wyckoff Girl Scouts’ annual coat drive. All coats collected will be delivered to Saint John the Baptist Church in Paterson for those in need. Coats will be collected during the month of November at the Wyckoff YMCA. Boxes will be located at the Y’s front and back entrances. ‘Chocolate Fever’ to be discussed Children in third grade are invited to participate in a book discussion group at the Wyckoff Public Library on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 3:30 p.m. to discuss Robert Kimmel Smith’s “Chocolate Fever.” Copies of the book are available in the Children’s Room. American Revolution to be discussed The Woman’s Club of Wyckoff, 176 Wyckoff Avenue, will present “When Artwork Speaks: Eyewitness Images from the American Revolution” on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Arthur S. Lefkowitz, author and historian, will bring the American Revolution to life with a lecture and slide presentation, using materials from a variety of museum collections. The program is funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. This program is free and open to the public. Friends sponsor ‘Mad Science’ “Mad Science” will be at the Wyckoff Public Library on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. This interactive program featuring the principles of gravity is suitable for children ages five through 10. Holiday Fair set The Wyckoff Reformed Church will hold its annual Holiday Fair on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be handmade items, gifts for the holidays, attic treasurers, books and CDs for sale, gift baskets for all occasions, lunch, a bake sale, games and pictures with Santa for the kids. A special fundraiser will feature prizes including vacations, tickets to sporting events, tickets to Broadway shows, and gift certificates. This fundraiser will be held at 1 p.m. Homemade pies and breads will be on sale for Thanksgiving dinner. The Wyckoff Reformed Church is located at 580 Wyckoff Avenue. Musical Shabbat scheduled On Nov. 20, the community is invited to Temple Beth Rishon at 8 p.m. for a musical Shabbat service featuring the traditional and contemporary music of Cantor Meir Finkelstein. The fair will include festive foods, craft items, bakery goods, baskets of prizes, the General Store, wreaths, handmade knitted items, jewelry, new toys, photographs with Santa, poinsettias, and more. The fair will also include home based business vendors. Winners of the prize baskets will be announced at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The church’s Senior High Youth Fellowship will be selling Christmas wreaths. Proceeds will be used to fund a summer mission trip. Photos with Santa will be Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The photos will be available at the church. Scout collects gently used dance shoes Girl Scout and Ramapo High School student Micaela Moffa is collecting gently used dance shoes for her Silver Award project. All types of dance shoes are welcome. Donations will be brought to inner city schools. Collection boxes are located at the Wyckoff Family YMCA and at The Dance Bag in Ridgewood.
