Proceeds from the drive will benefit the Interact Club at the high school. There will be a $10 charge for televisions (under 25 inches). College Club hosts dinner The Annual Holiday Dinner of the College Club will be held on Dec. 1 at the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood. This year, “The Clancy Legacy Band” will perform a Celtic Christmas concert for members and guests. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by a catered dinner. Harmony Celebration seeks singers The Harmony Celebration Chorus has a special opportunity for women of all ages who are interested in learning four-part harmony. Master Gardeners presentation on peonies The Master Gardeners of Bergen County will host Kathleen Gagan at its next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Services Building, 327 East Ridgewood Avenue in Paramus (across from Bergen Regional Medical Center). A limited number of bare-root plants will be available for sale after the presentation. Meetings are open to all interested gardeners, free of charge. Author to discuss Armenian genocide Peter Balakian, an award-winning author and Bergen County native, will speak at Ramapo College of New Jersey on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Balakian will discuss his new book, “Armenian Golgotha,” the translation of his great-uncle Rev. Grigoris Balakian’s first-person account of the Armenian genocide. Balakian’s program will be held in Friends Hall (SC219) of the Robert A. Scott Student Center at Ramapo College. Employment workshop scheduled Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church’s Career Resources Ministry, in its continuing effort to provide help to people seeking employment, will present the third of a four-part series of fall/winter workshops on Sunday, Nov. 22 at noon. The workshop will be held in the meeting room in the lower church and is open to anyone seeking employment and those who anticipate possible unemployment. Parish membership is not required. These workshops are presented by the Career Resources Ministry whose members are dedicated to helping those seeking employment. Professionals in the field will present the workshop and will be on hand to give advice. This next workshop topic is “Getting Your Message Out: Networking.” Participants should bring a recent resume or job experience information. Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Fell fundraiser set Alex Tullo, who supplies gas to the Exxon Station at 41 Myrtle Avenue in Allendale, is providing a weekend fundraiser to benefit the fund to acquire the historical Fell To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of ‘Peanuts,’ the Saddle River Youth Theatre is presenting the musical, ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ for eight performances between Nov. 13 and 22. Shows will be held at the Highlands Regional Playhouse, located on the grounds of Archer United Methodist Church, at the intersection of 37 East Allendale Avenue and Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. Show dates and times are: Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Nov 18 at 7 p.m., Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., Nov 21 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Nov.22 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 each and all seating is assigned, so advanced reservation is recommended, although available remaining tickets will be sold at the door 20 minutes prior to show time. RBARI hosts Holiday Boutique benefit The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc is holding its Annual Holiday Boutique at the VFW Hall in Franklin Lakes (corner of Franklin and Pulis avenues) on Friday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a large selection of holiday gift and crafts, and homemade foods including baked goods and soups. Admission is free. All proceeds directly benefit the animals at RBARI, the no-kill shelter locate in Oakland. Valley offers free program on anxiety The Valley Hospital Community Health Department is offering a free education program “You’ve Got Some Nerve” on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at The Dorothy B. Kraft Center, 15 Essex Road, Paramus. Stomach pain, dry mouth, heart palpitations, sweaty palms, and a generalized feeling of doom and gloom are all symptoms of anxiety. This syndrome, sometimes known as “the nerves” is a common disorder among older adults and can have a serious impact on one’s quality of life.
