November 4, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES I, II & III • Page 13 Mahwah Regional Chamber Connection WinterFest to begin with dedication to veterans The centerpiece of Mahwah’s first WinterFest will be an enormous maple tree in Veterans Memorial Park, located in the square in the center of town on East Ramapo Avenue. The tree will be lit by the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce at the WinterFest Opening Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. The Chamber has dedicated this tree to all local veterans, and to those currently serving in our armed forces. Wrapped in 150 strands of dazzling white LED lights and funded by donations from local businesses, organizations, and families, the lights will not be taken down at the end of WinterFest. Instead, they will stay on the tree and be lit for other events throughout the year. Because the lights are energy efficient and low voltage, they will not harm the tree in any way. “This beautiful maple tree in Veterans Park remains strong and deeply rooted in our town, just as many of our veterans remain rooted in her,” said Chamber President Dr. Annette Freund. “Lighting this tree in anticipation of the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941) is the Chamber’s way of thanking our veterans, giving back to the community, and opening the festival ceremonies in a symbolic and deeply meaningful way.” Businesses, organizations, and families may purchase a tree sponsorship with a credit card at www.mahwah.com, or may call the Chamber at (201) 529-5566 for further information. Executive Director Sharon Rounds may be contacted at the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce, 65 Ramapo Valley Road, Suite 211, Mahwah, NJ 07430. Gwen Cohen has been in private practice on Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah for over 10 years, providing the township a modern and refreshingly friendly approach to orthodontics. Dr. Cohen is a board certified orthodontist, one of a select few in our area. First in her class at Columbia Dental School, followed by a two year residency in Orthodontics at Tufts University, Dr. Cohen’s background and education present her patients with the latest in orthodontic technology, including Invisalign and Lingual (inside) braces in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Dr. Cohen has designed her practice for the best possible orthodontic experience. Patients are helped to visualize their bite problem by showing them digital images of their mouth and utilizing a computer software program that can show them the recommended appliances and treatment. During treatment, the patients really enjoy collecting their “Cohen Cash” which they can exchange for a prize at the end of treatment. The incentive program allows patients to receive “Cohen Cash” for good brushing, no broken braces, cooperation with elastics and retainers and much more. Dr. Cohen points out that a growing number of adults are seeking to correct irregularities in their teeth and improve their dental health. With cosmetic treatments as short as 3 months, adult patients are enjoying the benefits of invisible treatments such as inside braces and Invisalign. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends each child have an orthodontic evaluation at age 7. There are some functional problems such as crossbites, crowding, overbites and underbites which are best addressed during growth spurts and while there is still a combination of baby and permanent teeth. Dr. Cohen’s office is located in close proximity to the large corporations in Mahwah and surrounding areas, offering her adult patients the opportunity for appointments during their lunch hour and early morning appointments starting at 7:00 AM. The office is located right off Route 17, making it easily accessible to Northwest Bergen County and Southern Rockland County. You may call 201-828-9188 for a complimentary consultation ($250.00 value).
