Allendale May 13, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 11 The Allendale Recreation Commission’s 5K run, which was organized in memory of ARC Coach Ken Kresch, will be held this Saturday, May 16. The event will begin at 9 a.m. at Crestwood Lake’s Red Barn. The flat, partially unpaved course, continues around the ball fields up through Northern Highlands and back through Crestwood, and will end at the Red Barn. Commission’s 5K run set for this weekend Nothing but Nets walkathon set ��� The day’s highlights will also include a one mile Fun Run, which will begin at 10 a.m. Entry fees for the 5K are $15 for those who preregister; $20 the day of the race. This entry fee includes a T-shirt. The $5 Fun Run fee does not include a shirt. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in each age category. To register, mail a check payable to the Allen- dale Recreation Commission and an official entry form to: Amy Wilczynski, 6 New Street, Allendale. Entry forms are available online at arcsports.org. Those who register in person may pick up race packets Friday, May 15 between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Red Barn or between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. the day of the race. The ARC has invited all Allendale merchants to participate by setting up a table or booth at the Red Barn at no charge. The ARC is a non-profit organization. On May 17, the Red Cross Club at Northern Highlands Regional High School will host a walkathon to help prevent the spread malaria in African nations. Proceeds will benefit Nothing but Nets, a national campaign sponsored by organizations like the United Nations foundation, the People of the United Methodist Church, Sports Illustrated, and various corporations. For every $10 the campaign receives, one malaria bed net is sent to Africa, where it potentially saves one life.
