Brunkhorst attributes her development as a photographer to the influence of generations of artistic family members. Her grandfather owned and operated a camera store, Hasbrouck Photo Supply, in Hasbrouck Heights for 30 years. He and Clara’s grandmother were avid photographers who enjoyed traveling to New York City to shoot black and white photographs of scenery, landscapes, and urban scenes. Brunkhorst’s serious interest in photography began when, as an eighth grade student, she received her first digital camera: a Canon Powershot A75. She carries a camera wherever she goes and especially enjoys taking close-up photographs of flowers and animals. Summing up the reasons she loves photography, she said, “I can express my mood through my pictures and show a side of an experience or situation no one else can see.” The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. Hours are Monday through Thursday 10-9 and Friday and Saturday 10-5.
