He is survived by his children Nicolette Lisella of Allendale, Camille Preuss of Glen Rock, Francis Abate of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Jeanne Allen of Bethesda, Maryland. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and his siblings Tina Peterson of Manhasset, New York and Joseph Abate of Ridgewood. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Hilda DeRoo, nee Bruins, of Hawthorne, formerly of Wyckoff, died March 5. She was 86. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff where she was a Bible scholar. She was past president, vice president and secretary of the Christian Health Care Center Auxiliary for 50 years and worked as a volunteer at The Country Store of the Christian Health Care Center Nursing Home for 23 years. She is survived by her children Thomas G. of LaCenter, Washington, Curtis J. of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, Paul D. of Crownsville, Maryland, Roger D. of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Judith K. Bosloper of Hawthorne, and Karen S. Iwema of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sister Bertha Jacobs of Hawthorne. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence J. and her brother Sidney Bruins. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. He was employed by Inserra Supermarkets for the past 14 years, first at the Hillsdale Shop Rite and most recently at the Lyndhurst location. He is survived by his wife Maria, his son David, stepchildren JC, Michael and Andreia, his father Robert G. Gawron of Ramsey, and his siblings Robert D. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Vincent J. Nardo of Mahwah died March 6. He was 82. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Before retiring in 1984 he was the principal of Westbrook Middle School in the Paramus School System for 25 years. He is survived by his wife Joyce (nee Bader), his children Vincent and Philip, seven grandchildren, and his siblings Samuel, Ann and Anthony. Sarthou, U.S. Army retired, of Midland Park and West Yarmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, died March 3. He was a major in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was commander, Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 522, Bergen County, commander of the Veterans Administration American Legion Post 1347 New York, senior vice commander of Foreign Wars Post 959 and a member of Disabled American Veterans Post 32. He was a former member of Publications Staff, Adjutant General’s Office, Fort Dix. He was chairman of the Veteran’s Memorial Home in Paramus, served on the Menlo Park Veteran’s Home, and was consultant to the Bergen County Veterans Memorial Commission. He was former chairman and commissioner of the Northwest Bergen Utilities Authority. He was a trustee on the Midland Park School Board, and served two years as board president. He was cofounder of Midland Park’s Adult School and co-chairman of the Midland Park Adult Education Council. He was a member and liaison of the Legislative Committee of the Warren Korsgen Vincent J. Nardo Hilda DeRoo Bergen County School Boards Coalition and a member of the School Plant Planning Board. He was director of the National Foundation March of Dimes and former chairman of the Bergen County Chapter of the March of Dimes. He was president of the Bergen County Animal Shelter in Teterboro. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Bergen County Office on Aging and the Comprehensive Health Planning Council of Northern New Jersey for Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, and Sussex counties. He was president of the New Jersey Federation of Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and he as district governor of Toastmasters International. He was director of the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He was a member of the Democratic Men’s Organization in Bergen County. He was an aide to Congressman Helstoski, senior intern for Congressman Robert Roe of Passaic, and state committeeman for the Democratic State Committee in New Jersey. He was a member of the County Committee and municipal chairman of the Democratic Committee in Midland Park. He is survived by his wife Mimi Sarthou of Midland Park. He was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings Corrine Shea, Marie Erb, Albert and Charles Sarthou. Arrangements were made by Basralian Funeral Home in Oradell. Ruth Schoeder, nee Grinch, of Wyckoff died March 11. She was 92. She was a homemaker. She had assisted her husband Walter W. Schoeder with the establishment and operation of the North Jersey Philharmonic. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff. She is survived by her grandchild Rachel Mc Quitty of Roeland Park, Kansas, one great grandchild, and her brother John Grinch of Ridgewood. She was predeceased by her husband Walter W.
