Saddle River Day School earns top honors at Model UN Conference
The Wandell School in Saddle River will be offering two new preschool options in September 2009. The four-year-old class will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. The three-year-old program will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon with the option of extended days one or two days per week. Tuition for the four-year-old program will be $8,000. Tuition for the three-year-old program will be $4,000, with tuition of $4,800 with one extended day and $5,600 with two extended days: Tuesday and/or Wednesday until 2 p.m. The Wandell School preschool curriculum is aligned with the New Jersey Department of Education Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations: Standards of Learning. The program encompasses many areas of development including, social, physical, cognitive, and language. Parents are welcome to visit the program with their child. Children must be three or four respectively for the three- or four-year-old program by Oct. 1, 2009 and must be toilet trained. The program is open to out-of-town residents. Saddle River Day School students display their awards of distinction from the Academy Model United Nations Conference.
Saddle River Day School has earned the Best Small School Delegation Award at the Tenth Annual Academy Model United Nations Conference that was hosted by the Bergen Academies in Hackensack. A delegation of 13 students participated on various committees to debate critical global problems including the world economy, nuclear arms proliferation, and human rights violations. Upper school history teacher Bernard Revoir is the group’s advisor. Five students received individual awards of distinction. Senior Bradford Meisel (Security Council – Russia) of Saddle River and juniors Josh Cohen (Crisis Committee – USA) of Upper Saddle River
and Prashant Patel (Crisis Committee – Argentina) of North Bergen earned Outstanding Delegate Awards. Honorable Mention Delegate Awards went to juniors Brandon Rand (Human Rights-Russia) of Franklin Lakes and Joon Ho Hwang (NATO-Poland) of Ridgefield. The Academy Model United Nations is a three-day annual conference that provides high school students and teachers an opportunity to participate in a model UN experience. The event provides students with their first taste of organized debate, allowing them to develop skills in diplomacy and cooperation while also acquiring knowledge of international relations
