Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • March 4, 2009 Waldwick Waldwick High Winter Guard performs The Waldwick High School Winter Color Guard recently performed in a competition at JP Stevens High School in Edison. Over 40 color guards from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania competed in the show. The Judges Guild of the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network ran the event. Squads performed dance routines complete with spinning flags, rifles and sabers. A winter guard performs just like in a marching band football game halftime show except that the competitions are held indoors on a gym floor and set to pre-recorded music. This is the first year that Waldwick has put together an indoor guard and their debut performance was well received by the judges. Waldwick scored higher than two teams from much larger schools, John F. Kennedy High School in Iselin and Toms River High School North. Waldwick guard members include Victoria Wong, Olga Kozlova, Amber Young, Monica Torres, Miranda Fergensen, and Nicole Stahl.
