He was an electrical engineer for various telecommunications companies including Western Union, Motorola, and World Com. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his children, Janet Degelman of Waldwick, Paul Barnabic of Ramsey and Thomas Barnabic of Silt, Colorado, and six grandchildren. Blum of Ho-Ho-Kus, Surf City, and Monmouth Beach, died Feb. 21. He was 82. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was the founder, owner and C.O.B. of Chart Corporation, Inc. in Paterson. He was also a member of IFT, FEMA, and NAFFS. He was a parishioner of Saint Gabriel’s RC Church in Saddle River. He is survived by his children Virginia Phiefer of Wyckoff, Patricia Yedwab of Ridgewood, and Claudia Molloy of Westwood, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Grace V. Blum. Cooper of Upper Saddle River, formerly of Ridgewood, died Feb. 24. He was 80. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Before retiring 1983, he was vice principal of Leonia High School. He was a life member of the Ramapo Kennel Club, where he served as president from 1992 to 1994 and 1995 to 1996. He was a life member of the Good Sam Club, member of the Family Motor Coach Association and four of its chapters, Metropolitan, 20th Century Wagontrainers, Ontario Overlanders and Coaches for Christ. He attended the Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne. He is survived by his wife Jean V., nee Trotta, and his cousins Carolyn Cooper, David Cooper, Donald Cooper, Edward Cooper, Stephen Cooper, June Hicks, James Hunt, and Allan Leeder, all of Canada. Kelly of Waldwick died Feb. 20. She was 49. She was a product marketing manager for Grant Industries in Elmwood Park. She is survived by her mother Grace M. John Weigand McDonald, MD of Cliffside Park and Franklin Lakes died Feb. 25. He was 82. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He practiced medicine for over 50 years and was on staff at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, and had an office in Cliffside Park. He is survived by his wife Debra Davis McDonald, his children Anthony McDonald, Lisanne McDonald, Bruce McDonald, Susan Corcoran, and Jane Estes, four grandchildren, and his former spouse Kathleen Barry McDonald. Charles Donald Montgomery, Ph.D. of Ho-Ho-Kus, formerly of Ridgewood died Feb. 24. He was 78. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Before retiring in 1995, he was dean of students and an English teacher at Ridgewood High School. He was a member of West Side Presbyterian Church and Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus and a member of the Hobbyists and tennis and hiking groups. He is survived by his wife June (nee Barr), children Marc Montgomery of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Meg Montgomery of Brooklyn, New York, stepchildren Fiona McNamara of Mahwah and Jeremy Miller of Jersey of the Channel Islands, six grandchildren, and his former wife Carol Montgomery of Brooklyn, New York. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a supervisor with the United States Postal Service in Clifton for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the American Postal Workers Union. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, and his sons John Van Hassel of Helena, Montana, and Douglas Van Hassel of Midland Park, and his sister Marge Rinkerman of Clifton. He was a life member of the Midland Park Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief from 1990 to 1993. He is survived by his wife Nancy (nee Winters), children Albert E. Van Houten of McMichaels, Pennsylvania, Terry Ann Ferrantello of Montvale and Nancy Fitzpatrick of Fair Lawn, eight grandchildren, and siblings Ann Miller, Marie Kuiken, and Ronald Van Houten.
