He was a retired banker and most recently served as the commissioner of international banking for the State of Florida. Prior to that, he was the chairman and CEO of Waterhouse National Bank, now a subsidiary of TD Ameritrade. He was active in a number of professional societies, including the Institution for Foreign Bankers and the Bank Administration Institute. He was a member of the New York Athletic Club for over 30 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood. He had been a Little League baseball coach in Ridgewood. He is survived by his children, Coryann Stefansson of Great Falls, Virginia, Donald Bernhardt Jr. of Cape Coral, Florida, and Kirk Bernhardt of Sykesville, Maryland, three grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Sister Alice Kirk. He was predeceased by his wife Muriel Kirk Bernhardt. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Ruth Frank, nee Roughgarden, of Glen Rock died June 10. She was 86. After a war-time career with Wright Aeronautical, she worked in her father’s building company and later managed her own real estate business. She was an active member of the Community Church of Glen Rock. She was a member of the Hackensack Golf Club, the Country Club of North Carolina and Spring Lake Golf Club. She is survived by her husband Peter, her children Ruth Sisler Morine of Great Falls, Virginia, Drew Sisler of Glen Rock, and Helen Sisler Szymanski of Glen Rock, and six grandchildren. He was an architect and principal of Kahn & Jacobs and HOK, both of New York City. He was a past president of Temple Israel of Ridgewood and the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel. He is survived by his wife Marcella, his children David, Jonathan, Leah, Lois Meisel, Sarah Shalinsky, six grandchildren and his sister Sheila Lamonsoff. He was an owner/operator in the trucking business spending more than 20 years with New England Motor Freight of Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife Bette C. (nee Zabriskie), his daughters April-lynn Campanozzi of Keeseville, New York, Stacey Ann Perella of NAF Atsugi Japan, and Robyn Nicole Knapp of Ridgewood, two grandchildren, and his mother Florence Kish of Elmwood Park. Knoll, nee Stempora, of Mahwah died June 16. She was 69. She was a controller of Data Systems and Software of Mahwah for over 40 years. She is survived by her husband Charles H. Matule Sr. of Wyckoff, formerly of Fair Lawn, Passaic and Englewood, Florida, died June 13. He was 92. Before retiring in 1982, he was the head of the electrical design department at Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley. He had served as a councilman and mayor of the Borough of Fair Lawn in the 1950s. He was a parishioner of Saint Anne R. Irving H. Kaplan C. Church in Fair Lawn and a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Saint Ann Council Post 2853. He is survived by his children Joseph F. Matule Jr. of Loveladies, Robert C. Matule of Fair Lawn, Kathryn Harton of Jersey City, six grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Before retiring in 1984, he was employed by The Port Authority of NY and NJ for 47 years. He was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church of Wyckoff. He was a Scoutmaster in Troop 89 and served as a board member for the Boy Scout Council of Bergen County. He was a member of American Legion Post #83, Wyckoff, VFW Post #7086 and was a Saint Elizabeth’s 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus #13670. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Betty,” his daughter Pegeen Jones of Wyckoff, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Peter Shawn McGuire. He was a textile chemist working for both Ciba and American Cyanamid companies. While in Rutherford, he had been a member of the Kip Center and the Old Guardsman. He is survived by his children Anne Clapsadl of Pensacola, Florida, and Jane O’Hara of Rutherford, three grandchildren, and one great grandson. He was predeceased by his wife Tina Hinton Sarandria, his parents Carmelo and Mary Sraandria, and his sisters Victoria Pitrelli and Grace Tanasoca. She is survived by her children Maria C. Ashe of Hastings, New York, Adele C. Scafuro of Westport, Massachusetts, Alberta L. Armstrong of Dallas, Texas, and Susan S. Bussy of Dobbs Ferry, New York, four grandchildren and her sister of Isabelle Bayle of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Scafuro, former mayor of Allendale.
