It won’t stop the commuters, but they’ll be giving tickets to my friends and me,” said Randy Miller, whose two-family house is at the corner of Madison and Clinton avenues in the Wortendyke section of town. “Tickets are not cheap,” he added. The busy street is lined with residences, many of which are two family homes built in the 1800s and thus have minimal off-street parking. It is a block in from the commercial area and a block from the bus station, making it prime parking for commuters who don’t want to pay for a park-and-ride permit and for employees and patrons of the area’s business community. It is posted for 90-minute parking. Miller said perhaps the parking limit could end at 10 a.m., which would be too late for New York commuters. An alternative, he said, would be for the town to issue resident parking permits, or simply for police not to enforce the ordinance after a certain time. He said sometimes his guests park in the parking lot of the adjoining delicatessen, but that is not a solution. “If you live there, you don’t want to be a slave to the parking. If friends bring their cars and we go out to lunch and spend the day at the mall, they’ll get ticketed.,” Miller said. “I am bringing this up before it becomes a problem,” he added. Councilman Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan, the police liaison, said he would speak to Police Chief John Casson to see if something could be done. Mayor Joseph Monahan concurred. “We’ll look into it. We are not making any promises,” he said. Hair Care Zulugrass Jewelry Serving Northern New Jersey LICENSED BY THE NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION LIC# 29703 MIDLAND PARK, NJ – 201.988.5428 7-15-09 ESTER/JANINE ShamrockDemolition3x3(7-15-09) 3 x 3” SIDEWALK SALE CLEARANCE JULY 30, 31 & AUGUST 1 • Digital Cameras, Binoculars & Telescopes Nikon, Fuji, Pentax, Samsung, Meade, Minolta, Promaster & more • All Frames 50% OFF • Camera Cases & Other Accessories n Come I est rB Early fotion!
