Waldwick January 14, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 Benjamin Franklin interpreter to appear at library Professional actor Dean Bennett of the American Historical Theater will present “Dr. Franklin, I Presume” at the Waldwick Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. The one-hour program will be a fully staged, oneman historical interpretation of the great 18th century statesman who was also a printer, publisher, writer, scientist, inventor, ambassador, and man of many sayings. Bennett is a Navy veteran of the Korean War. After his release from active service, he became a radio announcer and actor. During his association with the American Historical Theater as Benjamin Franklin, Bennett has traveled to France as an ambassador for US Airlines, read the Declaration of Independence on the Fourth of July at the National Archives, appeared at the White House, and introduced the new $100 bill at the Department of the Treasury. The program is free and open to adults. Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. For more information, call (201) 652-5104. Kindergarten registration scheduled Registration for the September 2009 kindergarten classes in Waldwick will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. at Julia A. Traphagen School and at 1:30 p.m. at Crescent School. Parents or guardians must bring a birth certificate or other proof of age as well as two proofs of residency. Acceptable residency proofs include utility bills with the name and address and a lease, deed, or tax bill for the residence. To be eligible for next fall’s class, children must be five years old on or before Oct. 1, have a complete physical examination after Sept. 1, 2008, and have complete immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, poliomyelitis, rubella, rubeola, mumps, hepatitis B, and chicken pox. Parents or guardians must furnish a written record of the month, day, and year of all immunizations. Registration forms are available at both Crescent and Traphagen Schools during school hours. Anyone who cannot attend registration should call the school office Crescent School at (201) 445-0690/Traphagen School at (201) 445-0730 as soon as possible. Parents of private school kindergarten students who are planning to attend a Waldwick Public School for first grade in September 2009 are also asked to register their children by Jan. 28.
