Waldwick February 11, 2009 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 5 Donations provide jump start for station renovation Randy Reveley of Waldwick and his girlfriend Eileen Farrell recently joined forces to contribute $15,000 to the Waldwick Community Alliance’s effort to renovate the local train station. Reveley, owner of RF Reveley Construction on Prospect Street and treasurer of the Waldwick Community Alliance, said the train station project needed a jump start on funding while the group waits for the related grant applications to be approved. Reveley pointed out that the train station is the only one that is listed on the national and state registries of historic places. With that in mind, he said the group plans to hire a preservationist architect to take on the renovations of the venerable site. According to the borough resident, the effort to upgrade the train station and the surrounding area started with a small group of local property owners who have been renovating their own buildings during the last 10 years. Reveley noted that the Borough of Waldwick has assisted in the upgrades with the addition of lighting in that area. The Waldwick Community Alliance has already planned multiple 2009 fundraisers to support the renovation efforts. At press time, the WCA had a Wine Tasting event planned for Feb. 7. The next event will be “An Evening of Fun” at In the Swing in Waldwick on March 29. May 16 will bring a murder mystery, which is slated to be a first class tented affair at the station. A Classic Car Show is planned for June 7 on Hewson Avenue. Plans are still in the works for this event. Details will be forthcoming. The Waldwick Middle School PSO Casino Night is set for Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. Tickets are $75 per person.
