‘Fashion with Heart’ benefit set The Allendale Woman’s Club will host its 2010 Fashion Show: Fashion with Heart on April 7 at Seasons in Washington Township. The event is a benefit for The Center for Woman’s Heart Health at Valley Hospital. The club urges the community to consider supporting this cause by becoming a corporate or individual sponsor, by placing a message of support in the show program, or by donating goods or services to the prize baskets. With heart disease now the leading cause of death among women, The Center for Woman’s Heart Health at Valley Hospital is dedicated to awareness, education, and prevention of this disease. Among its many outreach programs, the center offers free comprehensive risk assessments to area women. Thrift Shop holds Dollar Sale The Clothes Line Thrift, located at the corner of Franklin Turnpike and East Allendale Avenue, Allendale in the Archer United Methodist Church. Will be open from 9 to 2 Wednesday, Dec. 23. The shop will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, and Dec. 30, 31 and Jan. 1. The Clothes Line Thrift shop will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010. Archer offers Christmas services Archer United Methodist Church, 37 East Allendale Avenue, is continuing Rev. David Harwood’s Sermon Series on Christmas Carols: Reflections on the History, Meaning, and Joy of Christmas Carols in two services. On Dec. 24 at 11 p.m. the sermon will feature “Angels We Have Heard on High” and the traditional service of candlelight and carols. Men’s Night Out set Allendale Newcomers Men’s Night Out is hosting an evening at the Allendale Bar and Grill for the BCS National Championship football game on Thursday, Jan. 7 from 7 to 11 p.m. The event will be held in AB&G’s private party room with an all-you-can-eat-and-drink smorgasbord for $30 per person. Allendale recently held its Holiday Walk. Santa, along with Mrs. Claus and son, were escorted to Bank of America by the Allendale Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. Close to 150 children stopped in to visit.

Calvary ready for Christmas Eve Calvary Lutheran Church, located at 165 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale, is offering two candlelight services on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, both of which will include Holy Communion. At 4:30 p.m., the Family Candlelight Service will include the lighting of candles, traditional hymns, inspirational scripture lessons, and music by the choirs. Area residents and Borst customers and employees donated three truckloads of clothing for needy families to Star of Hope during the company’s annual Clothing Drive.
